So seeing as Roadtrips are a hot topic again, with Akku and Grizz doing ones in that there USA. It bought to mind something I heard on the radio a little while back.
On the 25th January 2000 a chap called Herman Zapp and his wife Candelaria left their home in Buenos Aires Argentina for a bit of a road trip.
Their original plan was to travel for six months, driving up to Alaska. They chose an obvious and reliable choice for that, a 1928 Graham-Paige. This one to be precise:
Now if you read the side of that you'll notice that it says Zapp Family on it, because whilst a trip from Argentina to Alaska in a 1928 car would certainly be noteworthy, the Zapp's did not stop there. In fact they only stopped traveling earlier this year. 22 years on the road, 102 countries, 225,000 miles traveled and 4 children born!
That photo is from here www.worldphotoadventure.com/zapp-family/ which is when they visited the South of France. Meeting up with people and families was a big part of the journey, being hosted by over 2,000 families apparently. Otherwise they lived out of the car.
Just a handful of photos of the places they went
Kilimanjaro
York (hopefully if the link works)
Australia
Like all people that live on the road they have an Instagram : www.instagram.com/familiazappfamily
They also wrote a book : www.amazon.co.uk/Spark-Your-Dream-Fulfilled-Inspired/dp/9872313415
A little video:
and a quote:
"I have a very little home, but a very big backyard and I went to see it all"
