akku 's recent post has nudged me in to sharing this. I took the photos a while back at a Bicester Heritage meet. This is the fabulous Hillman Husky built by absolute legend Dave Rothwell. From an advert when it was sold in 2009 "325BHP Cosworth Turbo Engine, Manual Cosworth Gearbox, Mazda RX7 Front Suspension, Alfa Romeo Spyder LSD rear axle, Disc Brakes All Round, Full Leather Interior with Porsche 911 Seats" Proper stuff.

A very nice bloke too. I bought the original engine and box out of the 1936 Standard Flying 12 he built as spares for my 1947 Standard 12. His work is stunning.

I really love that, i do have a bit of a liking for that that particular style of custom cars that was really popular around the late 90s to mid 00s, dechromed and shaved bodywork, bright or pastel paint, interesting engine choices and smooth 90s style wheels (are those antera 101s?)
interesting that it has 5 stud front wheels and 4 stud rears (that would irk me.. but i guess was easier than changing the stud pattern on rear axle...)

This car was on the cover of a hot rod magazine I randomly bought in around 2000 on a P&O ferry. Before that I was into max power rubbish but that magazine (and this exact car) turned my head as it detailed all this fabrication and crazy goings on I was totally unaware of. One of the things was a guy working on a pickup and he fabricated a corner part of the bed from a bit of old exhaust bend. Totally blew my little 17yr old mind. Then I read about this car and it had a cosworth engine in the engine bay and barely anything else. Never seen anything like it. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t have got in to the proper car stuff. This was the mag, can’t add a pic on my phone :/ i.ebayimg.com/images/g/aq8AAMXQd2hRYXH9/s-l400.jpg

Now owned by a mate of mine. He's just recently updated the engine to 375 or so bhp.

Its a lovely little van. Wasn't this originally a darker orange, or is that another Commer Cob I am thinking of? Built in the 80s

I'm not in the UK, and I had not heard the name before.
So I Googled him.
He certainly has his own distinctive style ( love his Hanomag ).
But like mentioned already, the 5 lug & 4 lug wheels would really bother me ( objectively they are even the wrong way around, if you are going to have that at all)
And strange, when there is so much attention to detail everywhere on this car ( changing either axle probably wouldn't have been that hard to do...)

I remember reading about this in Custom Car years ago. It's definitely one of the cars that set me down the weird car path since up until then I was more interested in fairly ordinary 30s Ford hot rods and classic Beetles. Eventually it would lead me here and the rest is history.
Because of the colour and smooth curvy shape, it always puts me in mind of Trebor Soft Fruits.

Ah, its the same car. I can't find a photo of it online in its original form, but that was my favourite. It was then sign written "Rapid Plumbing" but still in orange. Then it got a mild makeover in this green livery as shown below. Same basic build but a repaint. Then there appears to be a vanilla colour and then this angel delight version as today.

Thats got hotwheels written all over it. I remember it in cream with the 3 spokes. Might look good on colour coded 3 spokes. Need a 1/64 to find out.

Now someone needs to do a video to nominate it for that Hot Wheels UK car model search contest! The various color stages could lead to several versions over the years of that model.
