all it needs is insurance really. Oh, and a permit I guess.
There's a few famously abandonned-in-the-street cars which pop up from time to time. There was a P4 Rover in Wales I think, just parked on a terraced street for like 20 years then it was gone. Some old guy locally who kept it legal but could never drive again and when he died his family scrapped it. When you see these cars you wonder what the story is
I once got a council warning letter as a car parked in the street outside my house had not moved in 28 days or whatever. Apparently a bylaw says if a car is parked more than a month its "stored" not "Parked" and street storage is illegal but parking is fine. So they were going to tow it. I bet it was a neighbour complaining.
So how some of these sit for years and decades I don't know

Yes it is a wonder and very sad these old classics will disappear.

My mate had an old Honda with crappy graffiti on it and parked in the road, used daily like most cars. He received a letter from the council to let him know his car was discovered vandalised in the street. Little did they know he was merely parking it there
