Looks like a mk4 with the mirrors, sunroof and that colour, unless someone swapped mk4 mirrors onto a mk3 GL or Ghia? Or an Orion like mentioned before. I cant believe we havent talked about the weird little hood scoops over the bonnet vents!!! Someone has been modifying! It'll be interesting to see the the whole car. I'm totally in!!! Mk3/4 Escorts are definitely my thing

I find it alarming the amount of people, myself included, who took one quick glance at the picture and decided it was a mk4 escort... Or perhaps I/we should be reassured that there's other anoraks out there 😂

Fear not, I'm not trespassing, I'm there with permission. Oddly, it's not the car that I'm interested in, there's something else, which I'll get to just as soon as I've cut my way through the undergrowth to pull it (them) out. Whether or not there will be enough of it left to save when I get there will be another matter. Anyhoo, those of you that identified it as an Escort, well done, get your anoraks out. Those that went straight for mk4 Escort, congratulations, get your anoraks out and go to the top of the class. I also identified it as an Escort, so I too sit here with my anorak on. What it actually is, or what it appears to be from what I can see through the windows is a mk4 Escort estate 4 door (or 5 door I guess if you count the hatch as a door, but I never do). I would say its a fairly low spec model, did they do an Escort 'popular plus' in the mk4? If not my guess is that it's probably an 'L'. Although it does appear to have alloy wheels, but at this point in time I've no idea if they're OEM or aftermarket. The colour is blue, and I think it's dark blue, but my feeling is that it isn't a metallic. I've no idea what the shade would be called in the Ford colour range, my anorakiness doesn't go that far I'm afraid. Despite the wipers suggesting that it's right hand drive I actually wonder if it's a German left hand drive car. The reason for this is that bonnet vent. I'm pretty sure that I know what that is. This is my van that I had sometime around 1993 (sorry for the curse word photo) but I had just been on a trip to collect some floor fan vents for a building project that the company I was working for was doing. Apparently it was cheaper to send me on a three day round trip to Germany in my van than it was to get them shipped to the UK. Either that, or they just wanted me out of the way for a couple of days! Anyway, as I was there I had a look around some car type shops, much like Halfords, just much much better. I always liked to browse the D&W catalogues as they had all manner of stuff that we just don't get here. Like far more interesting catalogues for a start! Also, unlike here, the shops that carried the catalogues also carried the stuff inside in their stock. So after thumbing through the catalogue for a while I came across these bonnet vents made by Kameii as I remember, so after pointing the item out to the staff because I speak very little German, I parted with something like 30 Deutsche Mark, and headed for home. I saw a few other cars in Germany with similar scoops on their fresh air vents, but I've never seen another one here. So this is why my feeling is that it's probably a left hand drive German import. Now that I've babbled on about all that I do find myself wondering if 30 years on the D&W catalogue is still a thing? Perhaps if you happen to be reading this in Germany braaap I'm talking to you, amoungst others you could let me know. Perhaps they do junk for my StreetKa. As ever I'm probably getting away from the point here, but I've not been back chopping down the brambles for a couple of days because like a fool I was wearing shorts the other day, so my legs are nicely scuffed up. It's really amazing how sore your legs can get from so many little cuts and scratches! So Germolene's the way forward for a day or two, and then, hopefully sometime this week I can hack at it for another hour or two, and get a little bit closer to the garage. Thanks for your interest, updates as they occur!

When I saw those bonnet vents I immediately remembered a golf mk2 I once watched at a vw dealer in the 90s with these on. But the car in Your shed is obviously not a golf. It was just my first thought. I had to look up what became of D&W. Had not seen a catalogue for about twenty years I guess. According to wikipedia the company was sold, but still exists, basically an online shop, but the huge flag store in Bochum (featured in the movie Manta Manta) does still exist. But the product range is far away from the good old days! Here is their (german) website: www.duw-shop.de/

Those vent scoops were (are) a favourite on Skoda Estelles and Rapids as well. One of mine still has them too. They're great for keeping the temperature down on the, um, luggage? washer fluid?
