I will change my employer in may 2022.
My current way to work is already just 6kms, but it will be even shorter with only about 2-3kms.
This got me thinking if it makes sense to start the engine at all.
I already tried walking, which takes 20 minutes, but even more inside the plant. My knees are already knackered so that is not the best option.
The next bus station is half the way to work and the monthly ticket costs more than I usually pay for gas.
Biking is not the best option either because of my knees.
I thought about an electric scooter wheather kickboard or vespa size, but that´s only good on dry days.
So my thoughts went back to my car, which wouldn´t get up to working temperature on that short way.
But that´s where I want to start: how can I pre-warm up oil and coolant at home?
Are there easier ways than auxiliary heaters? I know scandinavian drivers often have electric helpers like some sort of immersion heaters.
But that would require access to a 230V plug. Not possible.
Isn`t there a way I could warm up the engine fluids using a power bank?
