I've always had a thing for Corvairs. Sure, some bad press in their day, and the rear monted flat 6 was a bit weird for the US... But the styling is ace. Then somebody decided to mid mount a V8 in them.... Seating position is a bit compromised and the diff' is weak, but this is still a car I need to build/own someday Loads more info' over at V8vairs.com

I think they're lovely cars, too.
Wish more people did cool stuff to 'em.

Loving the V8 conversion! I really really love the shape of the corsair, and even like the idea of the air cooled flat six. So very different to the average yank. I'm guessing naff all get imported though......

Good grief i owned 2 in the mid eighties!!! one manual and and auto, manual red with a white convertible roof brilliant bird puller, auto was a duck egg blue and not a patch on the manual, only fault with them was ver 5000rpm the damn fanbelt would drop off owing to the torturous route its forced through for cooling the lump, but with the two seperate cylinder head temp gauges i had fitted i could always carry on driving it to a safe place to pop the belt back on!!! When I was in NZ last year I went to a private collectors warehouse near whangarei and there was a lovely corvair in among his huge collection, I've got video of the whole place but haven't sorted it yet
