Rummaging around in my cupboard of wonders I have found a gallon tin of Waxoil which I think I purchased in 1982 but wrote off the car it was intended for before I applied it.... Anyway. The applicator is long gone, what's the new hot way to apply this stuff? Ta. P.

Put the sealed waxoil tin on a camping stove under the car Light the stove. Stand back. A long way back. Post the resulting video on Youtube

Anyway you like - finger, rag, brush, shultz gun, pressurised pot (best way).
On of my 5ltr tins of Waxoyl rusted out and leaked . . . read into that what you will . . .

Heat it up on a stove. Stick it in a schultz gun. Blast everything in sight.

Don't put it on a stove, put the tin in a bucket of boiling water. If it's still not runny, add white spirit.

A few years ago, one of our local old boys was heating a tin of something, on a stove, think it was Shultz or sommat Anyhoo, it exploded, blasted flaming whatever all over him 2nd degree burns and a fair old time on hospital. I heard about it because it was a good mate of mine that had to put him out, not funny. Hot water is much safer.

Take the lid off and it wont explode.
You can do it in a water bath if you would like but it will take a fair few baths of water to get it up to temperature. Usually just do it on the stove on low heat shaking regularly.

I use an old water boiler cauldren thingie - big galvanised steel saucepan really - fill with enough water from kettle to stand the container, or the pressure pot, in, stand it on some bricks, and slide a Colman camping stove under it to keep it warm.
If you've ever got hot grease on your skin, and tried shaking the initial minor irritation of it being warm, and realising its flippin hot and actually burning and not shaking off . . . boiling/burning waxoyl/shultz stuck to your skin doesn't bear thinking about!

I stick in a ploy bag in the airing cupboard next to the boiler for a day or 2.

Yeah, it was pretty nasty, not only his face and chest, but all his fingers where he'd been clawing about trying to rip burning clothes off/beat himself out.
