Any good but cheap ones to recommend? About to move (finally, been waiting since April!) and we have a garage.
Won't get heavy use (my wife says it won't get any use) so not desperately worried, but nice to have a recommendation

ive been using filing cabinets for big things and those little metal drawers for documents (Bisley etc) are handy for little tools. and cheap used (the big cabinets can often be got for free) Stick em on a bit of ply with casters on.

I would recommend buying second hand. Although beware it can become addictive. Most older tool boxes are over engineered and as long as kept in a dry environment neither deteriorate or depreciate.

I bought halfords boxes years ago and they still function brilliantly. Go for the boxes with roller bearing runners, they are so much smoother to use.
Having just checked Halfords website, they have offers on at the moment.
SGS engineering boxes are also worth a look.

Another one for buy old. Even set some budget aside to sandblast and repaint if you must.
Older stuff is WAY more robust than anything from the last 30 years, unless you’re spending thousands. Spend around £100-150 each on 1980s snap on and give it a tart up. It’s thicker steel, better runners, and lots of parts and accessories available. The market is absolutely saturated at the minute and you can pick up some real bargains. There’s always a choice of numerous snap-on 9 drawer top boxes available for 100-150.
Even the new stuff people bang on about like SGS is crappy compared to older units. Some manufacturers are very sneaky too, they’ll ship a batch or two of good quality boxes to buy them some rep by word of mouth/online reviews, then drop the quality after that. I got caught out on this with Clarke HD plus units. 10 years ago I bought a black and gold 14 drawer topbox. I eventually filled it, and bought another one 5 years ago. The quality of the second one was terrible in direct comparison. , it was thinner steel, considerably lighter, plasticky handles and the paint finish was awful. Tbh I don’t really I don’t really lament it getting torched in the fire at my workshop, other than the financial loss!

Another vote for the old stuff, Snap on ones from the 80's or 90's not the modern wider ones are very good value. Beta, Proto, Beach some Sykes are good soe are a bit thin, as mentioned plenty on Market place

I had this for a few months, it was OK but the drawers aren't very deep so you tools need to be laying flat in order to get them to shut.

Just to update, I went cheap, against lots of advice!
I bought 3 homcom cabs with topboxes, and because of a combination of black Friday deals, terrible manufacturer's packaging and some cosmetic damage got all 3 for about £180.
When I got them opened, I was disappointed at the struggle to open the drawers, but I'd read somewhere about them being easier to open with some weight in there, and this appears to be true.
So for my limited usage, these will do.
