My demo vehicle was actually a series of Ford Rangers. Significantly for stereo builds, they were all regular cab, short bed, 4 cylinder 5 speed trucks. It started with 2 10s in a 1990 After an accident and with the mileage getting higher than my dad was comfortable with, that got replaced with a 92, so we moved the system over and continued to evolve it That one got rear-ended on the interstate, and by that time I was in a position to buy the replacement myself, so I picked up the 1998 Ranger you may have seen me post before: And of course, that got the system swapped in as well That didn't last long, eventually I ended up with two Premier 12s in a very similar configuration, but I don't seem to have any pictures of that setup...

I'd very much like to see more I love this period of car audio. I'm currently putting together parts to make what would have been my 17 year old self's 'dream' setup with various Kenwood bits In fact, I really just need to get in the habit of building systems again.

There's some classic build on the car audio junkies forum if anyone's interested. Scans from period car audio mags...

Are those Precision Power ART-amps in the first install? If so those where the first car audio amps I bought when the series was discontinued and I got a smoking deal on them from the importer. Also used to run Phoenix Gold MS-series amps, Boston Acoustics speakers, Cerwin Vega and Celestion subwoofers in numerous builds. Going to do an early 00s-type install in my TVR T350 when my new garage is finished

Fleckstone paint! Mega!!! Thanks, I could NOT remember the right name...I've slept a few times since then. Are those Precision Power ART-amps in the first install? We had decided to do a "top of the line" build, but as I recall we swapped those out for an Extant amp and used Crossfire signal processors. As a general rule we were limited to our customer's budgets, and we were all just broke college kids with questionable priorities, so as you see in the pictures the vast majority of our stuff was on the extreme budget end of the spectrum and/or used. Somehow or another we usually found a way to make it sound good, though.

This is super cool. I've got a fair bit of Cerwin Vega gear for if I ever decide to do a period install in something.

I remember the Xtant amps, there was a dealer near me in Southend. I couldn't afford them, but bought my Clif Designs (now just CDT) braxial speakers there.
They were amazing, I had them running active using a Pioneer DEQ9200 and Infinity class d amps, a 250 for tweets, a 275 for mids and another 275 bridged into an Infinity Kappa sub of some kind.
With the ta and eq on the pioneer, and kick panel mounted drivers (and the very shallow dash in my Fiesta XR2) it was my first proper experience of staging and imaging.
IIRC The Infinity amps were one of the first class d amps. They were sold as full on SQ amps, no crossovers, and of course were very efficient.
Difficult to believe the speakers were basically on the floor when the sound appeared to be right up on the dash!

Went on Holiday to Florida in 1995 and came home with a Pioneer head unit and an Urban Audio Works amplifier which about a year later found their way into my very first brand new car. Not the greatest photo but it is the only one I have. Amp was just fastened to the rear of the back seats. Nothing in comparison to the installs in the previous posts.
