Hi, I have just bought my first impact gun. I have a few random impact sockets along with loads of normal ones.
Do I really need to now buy a full set of impact sockets and extensions?
I'm only ever rolling around on my drive tinkering with my own cars.

You will break normal sockets, not straight away, but they do give up I don't even use mine much, but have killed 2

the 12 pointed ones also tend to round off bolts easily when used with an impact gun, as above try to buy a few decent ones for the common sizes I've split the cheap ones.

I bought a set of Laser ones and they've been abused left, right and centre, used as spacers in the press all sorts and not broken a single one.

I think the sealey 13 piece set on ebay is less than £20 cheaper than losing an eye if you do shatter a chrome socket

Yes I agree I can see the point on ring spanners where you might only have half a flat to swing it in but once a sockets on the ratchet does all of that.

I got a set of impact sockets from Halfrauds that seem to be fairly bulletproof.

Get a set of decent impact sockets, Halfrauds, are probably the best of a budget line, I have seen sockets explode firing shrapnel around the workshop, and TBH there can be weaknesses in any, I have a 13mm snap on deep impact socket that split on me
