looks like a bearing has spun on it possibly, have you tried the bearing for fit?

looks like a bearing has spun on it possibly, have you tried the bearing for fit? Yeah the bearing race had excessive play and was moving on the stub axle. The new bearing fits without issue.

As long as the new bearing doesn’t have play on the stub then it will be fine. The bearing runs on its own inner race so the surface of the stub axel isn’t going to make a difference just the ovality. I would fit the new bearing.

As long as the inner race has no play on the stub axle, I'd just fit the bearing.

As already said, bolt it up and try it, I’d check for play after fitting the wheel and before you drop it back on the ground, it’ll be more obvious if there’s a problem by using the wheel as leverage

Thanks everyone. I guessed it would be but it's good to get second opinions.
Happy Xmas one and all.

As long as the inner race has no play on the stub axle, I'd just fit the bearing. How do Simon, good to hear from you. A bit strange about the bearing, couldn't hear any noises even off boost. I only found the bearing issue as I'm fitting E-Class brakes, so I reckon I got lucky in not destroying the stub axle. Happy Xmas.

I’d be more worried about the seal surface than the bearing seat. Looks like it needs a good clean up or it’ll just destroy a new seal.

I would think as long as the seal is fitted to the same height as the old one so it runs in the same place in the centre it will be ok.

Your very lucky there with that bearing, I've seen them weld themselves to stub axle before!
