I tried posting on my phone & tablet earlier, but neither had the option of adding a photo?? There is no add pictures button and no full reply function either? Tried it in desktop format as well but still no options? Yes, I have to go to the desktop version to do those too. Oddly, on the mobile version there’s a “profile” tab which shows “notifications” with a little number, but that’s not on the desktop version.

Rather dislike the circular avatars. Otherwise, all good, proceed as planned. PW Out.

I prefer the old layout overall, but I guess I'll get used to the new one. However it has a few quirks.. This is desktop mode on Chrome on my mobile (I hate mobile versions of websites, they always miss features and info). When looking at bookmarks you can see the pages, but no indication of what threads you've viewed already. This is mobile version. You can see which ones I've viewed, but not the pages. This would be ok, except that bookmarks has never EVER taken me to my next unread post like participated does. If I click the desktop one it takes me to the first post. At least in the mobile version I can click the most recent page and work backwards. So at the moment I need to view it in mobile to see which ones I haven't caught up on, and then swap back to desktop to get to the right page.. And I just noticed another thing while trying to post this. If I open up reply on mobile version there is no options for any formatting including adding pictures.. Which bits are working as intended?

Not a huge fan of the new layout but I'm sure I shall become used to it in time.

At least in the mobile version I can click the most recent page and work backwards. got used to the new layout a while ago. On my Macbook I have to zoom in to get the writing large enough to read so that the sidebar disappears off the right-hand side of the screen - no problem as I don't use it. What does annoy me with the old and the new version is related to what varelse pointed out above - sometimes clicking on 'new' takes me to the first new post in a thread, but most of the time it doesn't; I either end up on the very first page or at the top of the last one, or somewhere in the middle of the last page. It would really make the forum easier to navigate if this were fixed, in particular in threads with lots of pics (and where people quote and requote the same picture-heavy posts several times).

I am of the same opinion as Varelse and app, and have/had the same issues with finding/opening posts.
Please don’t take this as criticism though, but it was massively irksome clicking a post only to find you went to some random point in it rather than back to where you’d left off.
I appreciate that it might be some setting on my device though, but I’ve never got to the bottom of it.

Thanks for the continued feedback everyone. Sorry pOG they were coming if we wanted them or not, I may be able to do something else with them in the medium term, as they are only styled to be round at the moment, I need to see if Proboards is going to do something more with them in the future (like if they manipulate them on upload or something). I started work on the left hand profile thing, and to illustrate why this is tricky (but I will solve it): I can increase the width of the profile box, but that reduces content width, which is something I very much don't want to do. I'll come up with something I'm sure As for the mobile feedback, I'm actually pleased it is even usable! ... it is a long way from done!

(and where people quote and requote the same picture-heavy posts several times). One of my pet hates! there is usually no need to re-quote a full post, let alone a reply to a reply to a reply with 3 x 7 images. I'm a fan of the light touch moderation on RR, but this behaviour calls for a heavy handed dictator who keeps a tight rein.

At the risk of getting into trouble quoting a quote, this also drives me potty. I know forum mechanics are usually beyond the control of operators, but Vzi only quotes the immediately preceding poster; so in the example above I'd only have melle's one above my input, not npp's as well. It also cuts out all images in quotes too. I appreciate that quoting gives context, and also allows comments to be answered in turn when multiple people have contributed to a thread, but when someone quotes a full post, with multiple huge images, just to say "ooo", ''wow" or the equivalent, then I think they should at least get a one month ban*. That's what the "like" button is for. * I am, of course, joking.** ** One month isn't enough.

Yeah this is a pet peeve, I'm hoping we get some new settings in the new version of Proboards that will help with this. I think in the new design (from memory) it is a much more direct choice you make to do the quoting of the whole thing. However don't quote me on that (no pun).

I agree that the bookmarks link - either from an email or clicking on a bookmark now always takes me to page one, post 1. It always used to take me to the next new post since I last logged in.
If that could be fixed it would be really helpful.
Also as described above - there is currently no option to add photos from a mobile device whichever view you use - if this can be fixed as well?

My “desktop version” on the phone doesn’t look the same as the “desktop version” on the desktop. I’ll try and put some screenshots up. Safari on iPhone looks like: The actual desktop desktop view (Safari on iMac) looks like this: Up until a few days ago, they both looked the same...

if it was to happen that all the non thread stuff , the 3 boxes, that i don't need , on the right ,was gone , would that give room for the larger signature photo on the left ?

Is the photo uploader not working?
Layout is an improvement IMO

I have to say well done for going through a necessary update without wrecking the architecture of the place. Something feels slightly unfamiliar, like I've been unwittingly signed out or something, but by and large trying to do stuff is the same.
Change can be a tricky thing to navigate with forums. I've been through quite a few that have had adverse affects on the usability and attendance of a site, and this doesn't feel like one of them.

Thanks It is all still a work in progress, and I expect there will be a bigger change over when we finally move to Proboards V6, but I have no idea when that is, we're in a good place for that now though, not such a radical change when it appears. Any redesign has pros and cons you just try your best and adjust/fix after launch

no major issues here, the only thing i am finding clunky is that font size in the posts are now larger than forum frames and user details. so its harder to distinguish between each users reply easily (almost like the user info being bigger was like a eye bookmark to scan the page)
