It could've been awesome. The wheels are wrong, and something needs doing with that scoop, and some other bits, but other than that, yes, very much so.

With the risk of getting lynched, Healeys don’t do it form me. There I’ve said it, please don’t come after me with pitch forks!

I'd normally agree that the 100-3000 range isn't my thing, but the other day I saw a video that in the background was a really ratty daily driven one.

I agree, wheels and guards around the wheels are WRONG.

I like what I can see. It doesn't say in what state it was in when the builder started out but even if it was a minter, their car, their vision.
It's hotrodding from an unusual base.
9/10 - would own.

Lose the side pipes and Chuck some subtly cool 17" track spec wheels on it and that'd work very well imo. As it is, it's a bit awkward looking

I had to some googleing as I wasn't sure it was an actual Austin Healey. And it isn't. The windscreen pillars are wrong. Its a Haldane 100 Healey replica. Austin Healey Haldane 100 Replica

Or is it? This is an Austin Healey BN1 So the replica doesn't have the seam under the headlights. Its a real one I think.

Are they 'seams' or just chrome strips? They look raised.

I think it's a Healey BN-1 with a heavily raked screen. Donald liked to cadge lifts in V8's when he was over at the US Conclaves so he would like it. It may not be to everyone's taste but I always think that 'If Batman drove a Healey......' with this one

If you described that to me without showing photos I'd say it sounds awesome, always wanted to do a Cobra style Healey. My comments on how it actually looks are too negative to post and would contain comments about the builders eyesight.

$27k reserve not met? Really? Regardless of who built it, it’s an amateurish looking build within the hot rod world. There’s people on this very forum knocking stuff together in sheds and single car garages that are nicer. And that’s what it is really, the only healey bit is some of the bodyshell. Everything else is standard American street rod fare.
I echo the sentiments above, those wheel arches and front lip are truly awful. They don’t even fit the wheels and tyres on it either.
And then to top it all off it’s an automatic...

I think if the arches had been a bit more in keeping with the era of the car it would have been more aesthetically pleasing. They are too modern angular for it to work for me. Just my opinion.
Also, there is a lot of area between the headlights and splitter that makes it look odd to me.
I feel like I'm totally negative about the car, but I'm also happy that someone tried to create a hot rod out of what they had.
