After careful consideration of the two cars I've got while washing them today I came to the conclusion that the sensible thing to do is part with one of them and focus my resources on that one car. Fortunately, I'm not that sensible. Probably the main thing setting me down this path at the moment is both of my cars are suffering niggles and I'm waiting on parts arriving to resolve the niggles and it's giving me too much time to think since I'm not able to drive either of them really at all at the moment because of the niggles and that worldwide thing that's happening. I also think I know which car I'd part with to make room. Wouldn't be an easy sell at the best of times and if nothing else, that's the think that's likely to stop me doing anything daft. I really don't have space to store a third car just yet, not without spending money to make more space to store another car, but if I spend the money then there's no money to buy the third car with... another quandary. Why can't there just be more money? More money would fix this problem.

I wasn't really looking for an answer, just sympathy. I found that, and a few more neat pictures of Dyanes, so everyone is a winner here really. Also worth noting that if/when I get one, it'll be staying stock height. If you can't do hilarious bodyroll in your Dyane/2CV then what's the point, honestly.

Buy it, get it road legal, park it on the road. That's what we pay insurance/tax etc for right? I know this is unrealistic, but I'm very lucky live on a cul de sac with lots of parking space on the road (we did have 3 cars along our frontage at one point), in a country where they don't salt the roads, and with some very very understanding neighbours. I'm currently clearing enough space to have a drive to park 2 cars on, which i've told the mrs is to get the cars off the road, but is really to allow me to have somewhere to have 2 projects, whilst the running ones stay on the road...

Of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with dreaming either - when I was in my early 20's then my 30's more so in my 40's and determined more than anything in my 50's with the dream of just running a very small business restoring cars - I couldn't make it happen for decades but then one day - hang on in there Angyl - keep the dream alive and maybe just one day

I totally get you. I always wanted a Mk3 Escort (had that 7 years now) and always fancied a Triumph Spitfire (managed to get my Dad to relive his youth with that one ) then after not having a second car for a year and using the Escort as a successfully daily... I bought a Capri. I had the intention of using this a little then selling it, I'm still working on it though and its hardly moved. I am enjoying doing that but, I keep seeing other Fords and classic 80s Vans I want! I keep thinking if I could afford it and it was tax exempt I could keep it round the corner, keep it for a bit then sell it ... not happening though, I have no money . I can't sell my Escort as I love it and I definitely could sell the Capri but yeah... keep seeing other things but, can't buy them like yourself

I also love 2CVs and Dys. I love them when they're slammed on nice, preferably fat, wheels, and with ratty patina.
I also think that given these cars were never admired for the power of their motors, and they are very light, they would be a great basis for a face-ripping EV conversion.

Electric Dyane you say? www.leadingthecharge.org.nz/top_to_toe_road_trip They don't give any details on it beyond what you see in this shot, which is a shame, because I want to know what's in that wooden box at the very least. It all looks like a fantastically janky set up.
