Hi guys, my yugo sold and I've potentially found it's replacement, it's a non running project that rolls freely.
My question is:
Is anyone on here able to collect ot and bring it to me? (As in a company, so I don't get in trouble for arranging non essential travel)
Cheers guys!

Ask @grumpynorthener his opinion and if he knows.
I think it is very much ‘doable” but be ready to be flamed, judged and even prosecuted if someone is over eager.
You need to ask the question “Is it really necessary?”
I am waiting for a car delivery, but know it will not happen for months now.

I doubt that this would be really considered as oiling the wheels of industry in a time of a country / worldwide crisis and would be frowned upon by the authorities / powers that be - probably a short local trip to keep a business viable is acceptable - obviously to recover a stranded / broken down vehicle - but a privately owned project being transported from vendor to a new owner is probably begging for being stopped / questioned & turned around - if you can why not wait a few weeks to see what the countries situation / take on transport movements is - Not been out there so I don't know but I would think currently that the vast majority of recovery / transport fleets are parked up and all other commercial transport is being concentrated on the essential goods / medical logistics market
You don't say how far or location to location that you need to move it but I would deem this question pretty irrelevant anyway but you have probably answered your own question - if its considered by yourself as a form of non essential travel then likewise it will considered by others as such - commercial or not - I could be wrong but I would also think that if you are lucky enough to find someone to undertake the work that they will be charging a premium uplifted rate too in the current climate conditions

Shipley are still operating. I’m all being well having a car collected Monday. It’s not really ideal but if these people are working because they need to support their families etc then so be it, I’ll help them keep bread on the table.

I can not argue with your reasoning and have to say (although in a different market) I'm operating on the same basis

It’s easy enough to hand over keys and paperwork while maintaining 2M distancing, and ensuring everyone is washing their hands or using disposable gloves (correctly, too many people just wearing them because they think they are some magic save-all) then there is very little risk of contamination.

According to Shiply, they have been granted essential status and business is going on as normal. They have put guidelines about how to operate on their site. I'm not working at present as my daughter is about to give birth and my wife is going to assist when she does. I'm isolating until she goes which should be in the next two weeks to lessen any risk of infection. Cheers Dave

I'm in a similar boat as you OP, needing a car moved during this lockdown.
My brother and I spotted a car up north, that was the car that our dad owned when he passed away. It had to be sold at the time to wrap up the estate, but we are now in a position to buy it back. It still has his private plate on too.
So, we've been getting quotes, Shiply etc., and those we have spoken to are happy to do the work, and all parties are sensible about remote payment methods etc. The transporters are still allowed to operate as essential logistics, and many are happily bidding for work it seems.

Essentially, you getting it would not be essential travel so currently prohibited. Somebody collecting it is different, as they are working in a role that cannot be done from home and, in general, are permitted to work within distance rules. It's somewhat of a grey area regarding sole traders/it's companies with the former likely working and the latter closed. I sometimes pretend I'm a lawyer but not often.....
Either way, stay safe and stay with vehicle to tinker with and soon hopefully back out in!

I have little choice but to start to move things in the next few days - I have vehicle that has just undergone am extensive restoration and ideally it needs to go back to the client in London (circa 100 mile round trip) - I also have a chassis & panels to collect from my barn storage (15 mile round trip) in order to keep working - I have not been anywhere for the last 20 days and managed to run the business as normal from my home based workshop - but I am just going to have to be sensible and get the missions done - potentially I will also need to get a bodyshell up to Preston too but I can hang fire a little longer on that one - whilst none of this can classed as a front line service it is my business and is operated to well within the government guidelines of this current situation

Yes, some are still working. I bought a couple of cars from BCA last week and found a transporter working via Shiply who was nice and reliable and left me with a few cards for future reference.

Sounds like yours went better than mine is at the moment, we had agreed a quote through Shiply and paid the deposit, after specifically talking to the mover about whether they were OK to do this at this time. They have now turned round and said they won't do it due to the current coronavirus. Not sure what's different to earlier this week when they said that it was perfectly OK. Not happy at the moment, as we now have to try and claw back the deposit from Shiply and start again.

Anybody who is unable to work from home will be continuing to work if at all possible and you can do so whilst social distancing (HSE have contradicted this in writing for large building sites - no social distancing required), the issue is the police apparently are making up the rules as they go along and sending people home! Me I would love to sit at home being paid 80% of my wages, sadly I'm self employed and even the jobs where I would have an empty house we can't get materials, now got to wait until July to see if I get anything from the government, that's a lot of food to buy and bill's to pay with no income. Been out to look at a job yesterday with the van and trailer, I could see the neighbours curtains twitching no doubt they've been ringing the police to complain I've dared to go out of the house
So yes people will be transporting vehicles.

I'm now back at work. The transport sector is classed as essential work which obviously I can't do at home. Places like Copart's are closed to third party companies like mine and they are only delivering using their own transport. My daughter is now at her home with new baby so I'm back out earning my crust. Cheers Dave

My man is still transporting.
I desperately want a specific car I’ve seen, problem is I can’t view it any time soon!
Not brave enough to buy blind..... although I’ve gambled with more cash in the past.
