Yes, but as I said a while ago even the needle sweep is different between the two, so the numbers won’t coincide let alone the setting The rrc is a stand-alone gauge, albeit fitted into the cluster, whereas the td5 unit is one complete dash🙁

Sorry should have said discovery, not td5, I am trying to keep the rrc instrument cluster as it is If I fit a different revcounter I’ll still have the original sat there not working

Was the RRC originally a V8? If so, even an alternator with an output is only going to make the tachometer read half whack.
If it’s an RRC Tdi tachometer, then it should work.
Might be easier to add a trigger wheel and sensor?

This Range Rover has had so many powerplants it’s laughable! The last engine was a 300tdi, but the instrument cluster is probably the v8 one, they all drive from the alternator and it was accurate with that, and the previous 200, and the 3.5 petrol before that Like I said, access to the alternator isn’t that easy, built once it stops feeling like my head is going to get blown off every time I walk out the back door I’ll have a look Also the bonnet isn’t attached at the moment, and held down with a ratchet strap, and there’s no way I’m lifting that sail up in this weather😳

Dakota digital sells a unit which can convert an incoming signal into another signal and gives you the possibility to finetune it.
I use it in my giulia to convert the signal coming from my bmw diff to work with my alfa 156 tacho which is normally fed with a signal from an ABS-unit. Works perfect.
That way you could probably use the signal from the ecu to drive the revcounter.
