It seems like a marque that I haven't seen mentioned too much here on RR, what with VW/BMW/Merc steeling the limelight for most requirements?
Does anyone have a RR Audi on here, and if so, what is it and how are you finding it?
I had an 84 Audi 80 that was great at the time and I'm tempted by a B3 or B4 Audi 80 or even an Audi 100 with a bit more grunt. They seem to be the last of the good Audi's in my very humble opinion before they went 'yuppie' with the A4 and A6 etc.
If cared for they still look good now - rust doesn't seem to be too much of a problem with them.
I even have a perversion for an Audi A2 as there's nothing else on the road like them. More modern I know, but unfortunately I think too small for regular parts hauling etc.

I've had quite a few B3/B4 Audis. Currently, I have a 90 quattro 20v sport, which is the only one left of five press cars that Audi made for the 90 20v launch back in 1989:
and an 80 quattro with a 1.8T 180 conversion that I've owned for 12+ years now:
Quality build and very reliable, bar the front suspension which can't cope with the UK's potholed roads very well, so top mounts and wishbone bushes are almost considered a service item. A fully galvanised bodyshell keeps the rust at bay. 4 pots handle the best, 5 pots sound sublime but are cruisers, V6's are turbine smooth. Oil burners are supposed to be economical but I don't do Diesel or economy. I had a B4 2.6 Avant which swallowed a full bathroom suite including shower base with space to spare. I prefer the B3 shape over the B4.

I'm currently restoring a 1986 coupe quattro that I drove as my daily from about 1988 until 2003. It's a bit rusty. My current daily (the car that I bought in 2003 to replace the cq) is a 2000 TT Roadster. Not sure that counts as Retro yet.

I do like the older Audi 100/200 and love the sound of the 5 cylinder lump. Most of the post 90s stuff I find a bit 'so what? Mind you, I say that about most stuff post 90s.

I'm an Audi fan but don't own one presently. I worked at a couple of VAG dealerships in the early 80's when their cars were often different and better built than the opposition. The dealer launch for the C3 Audi 100 was a hoot ragging the 100's round and comparing against Ford Granada, Rover Sd1 and Vuaxhall Carlton. Not quite as much fun as the dealer launch for the c3 200Turbo though ! Also drove one of the early Quattro coupe (LHD) at the dealership which was epic especially as i was 20 years old at the time.
Owned a 1.9 5 pot coupe' with the useless pi$$berg carb and a c3 100 Avant 2.3. The sound of a 5pot on full chat is still one of my favorite engine sounds.

Lot's of love for the B4 RS2 and the pre-dating Polo 50 And the A2, obvs. No love for your avatar though, which - frankly - makes me dry heave.

No love for your avatar though, which - frankly - makes me dry heave. This is the second time you (and only you) have mentioned this. You have the following options: 1. Like it. 2. Lump it. 3. Do one. And I have no interest in whichever you choose!

Whether you believe you can, or you cannot, you're probably right.

Will always have love for older Audi's especially the 5 cylinder variety, I owned a 1991 90 20v Quattro 7a for a while, loved it and they don't rot anywhere as bad a BMW or Mercedes, I actually loved the drive more than an E30 BMW, it actually felt more solid and the noise well you know the noise! The negative points for Audi is parts availability, well lack of, there are no where near as good as the competition offers, even bits for my B5 RS4 are starting to become more effort to find, with Audi saying sorry those parts are NLA!

I got my first Audi in ‘94. An ‘86 B2 90 2L. A bit of a rough old thing with lots of miles but it ran well and was such a nice relaxing drive. Did about 20k in it in just 18 months.
I spent quite a long time looking for a B2 90 Quattro. Saw quite a few - all pretty much ruined, do ended up buying a B3 in 2.2kW flavour. Great car, not enormously power at 136bhp, but they are strong, willing horses that sing a nice tune. Lowered it a bit with a Jamex kit, but otherwise just kept it serviced. It was my daily driver and work car so did lots of miles.
I eventually moved the 90 on in 2003 when I was offered a 1996 A6 Avant 2.5TDI by a colleague. My first diesel, but with 140 bhp and 6 gears I was prepared to forgive that. 45 - 55mpg wasn’t hard to like either. 17 years later I still have the A6. It’s done 330k now pretty much normal service items only and has recalibrated by durability expectations to unrealistic levels. Don’t make them like that any more......

I came across this little beauty last night during a bout of insomnia... We owned a lovely 1.4 A2 sport between 2006 and 2016 and traded it in for peanuts and I really should have kept it. Struggling to find my full-size photos!

I have a fancy for an A2 if only for the fact they're aluminium bodied and a little bit different. We have possibly the cheapest road legal coupe gt in the country and it really shows in person but it's a great machine, such a solid car as VW's of that era were. I'd have a more stout Audi of that era (a quattro etc) if I didn't have my Datsun for sure. I'm tempted to buy the audi from clo when she fancies something different but that'll not happen for a while. I have one gripe, why was it only a 3 speed auto!? why not 4?!

My Mum's friend had a 200E (non-Turbo) in the early 80s - effectively an Audi 100 5-cylinder with the 200 Turbo's interior and super-cool 4-headlight front. To someone who was used to Fords and Vauxhalls owned by my mates' parents this thing was amazing. I'd love to own one now but I have no space and not enough money

I have a c3 100 2.2 turbo. Love it. It's got a galvanised body so rust isn't much of an issue. It gets used and abused daily and I'm still not bored of the five cylinder turbo sound. The main issues I've had/heard of from others are dry solder on instrument cluster, various heater issues and the auto boxes are apparently weaker than the manuals.
