I wouldn't worry about that. Just run in for a Mercedes.

Was hopeing that. Been warned away from the 320 cause of head gaskets. Should be ok on fuel as i embark on a modern lead sled for daily and show duties. Thanks for the reply.

Mines got 130K and is a bit rattley. But most are OK they don't have a reputation for intastellar milages for nothing.
The condition of the rest of the car is whats important before you even consider the milage.
I get about 20 - 25 Mpg but I have had up to 30 on long steady runs at about 65 with not much weight. MPG takes a hammering when using the kick down and "booting it" away from junctions and roundabouts and traffic lights etc.
Edit - Its a 124 you are taliking about isn't it. Be even less concerned, the duplex timing chain eliminates the previous generation of engines weak link.

Thanks for that yeah it's a 124. Got a polo coupe mk2 at the moment doing daily duties but can't cope with this 2 car's thing any more.

124 L reg 230? thought they ditched the M102 in favour of the M111 at the facelift? my '95 M111 is in bits as we speak, 130k, timing chain looks like new and theres no wear on the cams. don't boil them, cos they're an expensive pain to repair. most trouble ive had with a merc yet.
