The wires to the throttle pot on my range rover classic have snapped off where they are moulded into the body so there is nothing left to repair, new ones of the original type are no longer available and secondhand ones cost a fortune. You can get a modern one adapted to fit for £200 but as a tight git I and given modern pots cost around £20 I want to make my own. So I need a throttle pot which works in the anti clockwise direction as you look at it and operates up to 5000 ohm, don't really care about the shaft or mounting as I will make adaptors for these.
Any ideas?

Dodge/Chrysler type might be suitable. Very similar design, 5 volt input. Haven’t fully researched but worth a look and available cheaply to have a play ?

Doesn’t matter if it’s clockwise or anti-clockwise - you just connect the positive and negative wires the other way round.
Any throttle pot will do pretty much - the fixings and shaft connection are pretty much all that changes apart from the plug itself. I’m sure a 10k one will work just as well too..

Thanks guys, the injection system is a pretty crude largely analogue system, not having one at all doesen't seem to make much difference to how it drives either. I've ordered one which is used on loads of fiat, vauxhalls and peugeots, it was only £8 so not much to loose and uses the square type Bosch connector which is easy to get.

RR Classic, so I guess the flapper system?

Beware - I swapped a known good SX200 (S13) motor into a known good car with a poorly engine/box and had loads of problems, especially unstable tickover (bouncing between 500-1200 rpm ?) I eventually traced it to throttle potentionemeters with different resistance, even tho' the cars & engines were same spec / age. Best of luck, worst case - I suspect you could modify a higher than ideal pot by fitting a dropping resistor in paralell across the terminals ?

RR Classic, so I guess the flapper system? Yes its a lucas 4cu system with the flap air meter.

RR Classic, so I guess the flapper system? Yes its a lucas 4cu system with the flap air meter. I've had them go on more modern systems and they cause all sorts of problems, this is so old it doesen't even have a lambda sensor or catalyst from what I can find all the throttle pot does is slightly enrich the mixture on acceleration.

I think the 14CUX is the one with closed loop control but even so that’s about the only use I can think of for a TPS when you already have an air flow meter anyway (or knowing when it’s on an open/closed throttle although that’s usually just a switch or two in what looks like a TPS housing.

have you thought about using a part number cross-reference catalogue to see what other cars had that throttle pot? You may find it was fitted to a huge range of vehicles and the one fitted to the Skoda is cheaper because...
Also, watch out for throttle 'switches' which aren't pots at all. Some older systems had a throttle switch instead... looks the same on the outside.

The £8 one turned up it only has a range of 3k ohm. Given the setting voltage is at closed throttle this may not be a problem.
Today I have been using it with no throttle pot and I can't notice any difference in how it drives in fact with the hole in the plenium blocked it drives better than it ever has. I will try jury rigging the 3k ohm one up to see if it has any effect but I think being an auto it doesen't really need an extra squirt of fuel on the initial throttle tip in anyway.
