Hi all, I’m in the process of making some engine mounts to fit a Mercedes OM605 diesel engine into my E36 BMW.
I’ve created the mounting plates on the engine and they’re bolted in place. I’ve also fitted OE style engine rubber mounts and created a plate to fit in top of them.
Now I’m wanting to link the two together. My thought process is to use come “cardboard aided design” and then replicate that into steel.
Does anyone have any tricks or tips when doing this process?
How do I ensure the mounts are straight and true?
Are there any simple ‘go to’ designs to use?
Everything is being made out of 5mm mild steel sheet.
Thanks in advance, Ben
