I know it's a modern, I'm sorry, I've tried scouring the internet for help but all I get is that my DMF failing has killed it, whereas i know my DMF is ok as it's been changed just prior to my Ownership, however there is no evidence of the starter being done. Is it a big job? As I'm having to daily the Astra until I can get it done. Any hints or tips would be appreciated, and apologies for posting about a modern. Penance pics

Starter went on the one we had, I don't remember any dramas changing it. Although there are two types of starter, so buy from somewhere like eurocarparts locally. Then if it's the wrong one they will swap it over. We managed to get the wrong type.

Just get a new one. They're known for dying and without being funny, most of them in the breakers probably have fragged flywheels anyway.

It was a new one I was getting, I was thinking more in terms of how difficult they are to change, is it a side of the road job or a garage, but a local garage has given me a decent quote so it'll be going there. Thanks guys

if its a puma diseasel then its one of the easiest I've ever changed, on a transit and the relay it just a few minutes.
if its a DW12 psa based engine then its a little more involved being tucked in a little higher with 3 bolts.
edit - just had a wiki, the DW12 was used by ford 2005 on and only put in the mk4 mondeo in 2008 as a 175ps engine. so its the ZSD Puma engine, very easy swap.

Easy peasy. Might just be choking on metal dust from the dmf and need a good clean.

I got it done a while back, but posted in the wrong thread by accident. It was just an old poor quality starter.
