I have to go help my mate whos audi is not starting, from what he says I think the plugs are not glowing, so wheres the relay for these? & is there a fuse some place? Ive googled it with out luck..thanks

What year?
They usually have a relay but later cars it could be in a couple of locations.

If it’s anything like my ‘96 A6 (and probably it is), by design, the glow plugs don’t operate if the ambient temperature is above about 6C.
Disconnecting the correct temperature sensor (you’ll have to google for the location) fools the system. There is no doubt they start easier with a bit of glow.
They are slightly notorious for being reluctant starters in the 6 - 12 C temp range and the following are all factors
- need a good strong battery and good wiring so the engine cranks quickly. If they don’t turn at a decent rate they take ages to fire, if ever.
- no air leaks in the pump feed/ bleed back system.
- injection timing needs to be on spec or slightly advanced. Retarded will make cold starting hard.
A bit of glow plug action mitigates all the above - some rig manual over-ride systems.

iirc they have a 50a or bigger strip fuse in a small black housing somewhere near the battery. its a common fault for these to blow,.
