Stoopid question time - What's the name for the little valve in an air compressor that's open to start with, then closes as it comes up to pressure? Like a little plunger in a little brass nozzle nuzzled in the cleavage of the two pistons.
My one's thoroughly forked, won't even close with the annointing of the oily unguents, not the percussive blessings of the wholly holy adjustable, and it turns out that it's very tricky ordering a replacement if you don't know what it is that you're replacing....

It's kind of the opposite of that - a pressure relief valve opens when a certain pressure is reached. This little beggar's open below a certain pressure (2.2 bar according to the only thing stamped on it), then closes when that pressure's reached. I assume this is for ease of starting or something.

Unloader valve. As you say, to facilitate starting.
