What black 'substance' could I paint the underfloor in for best protection?
After first sanding off all loose paint / old 'underseal' and coating in a rust eater
Also durability would be good as it will be in the wheel arches
The car doesn't have plastic arch liners

I'm about to do one of my cars using Bilt Hamber products, S50 for the cavities and UB for the underside, similar to yourself after cleaning and using rust converter (also from BH). www.bilthamber.com/corrosion-protection-and-rust-treatments/dynax-ubI havent used the S50 and UB before, but I've used a few of their other products and they stand out to me as a company who sells products that actually do what they claim, I've never been disappointed.

UPol Raptor for the coating.
As for cavities, rust treatment etc, I use nothing but Bilt Hamber as above.

I use different products that do the same job has outlined above (basically because I'm a approved treatment centre) - I use Dinitrol - 4941 underbody wax for the undersides & ML cavity wax for the cavities - difference with the Dinitrol range is that its all extensively field & lab tested - all my restorations are treated with the range outlined and I have never had any issues afterwards - the nice thing about the 4941 is that remains flexible / self healing - ideal for wheelarches & floor pans - its also used extensively by OE vehicle manufactures
