Congratulations π Grandad on my Moms side worked for Ford all his life and drove an Escort Mexico. My Dads dad didnβt drive on the road, but did know how to drive a Steam Loco, worked his whole life in the engine sheds in Ashford..So that counts as cool in my book ππ

Congratulations.
My grandad never had a car, let alone a Granada. He drove a horse n cart (I'm not even joking).
However, my dad had a mk2 2.8i Ghia.

Congrats, being a grandad is great as you get to give the little blighters back when they get cranky !
My Grandad (long passed now) had garages back in Cork,Ireland but his most interesting car was a 1926 Roll-Royce Grey Ghost, now resides in a collection in the states, it has some link to a silent movie star apparently.

Good on you mate. Mum and baby both doing well I trust?
My mum's dad was a serial BMC owner, at least during my lifetime. I can remember him having a Morris 1100, then a Morris 1300, then a Morris Marina which he kept in regular use until his death in 2000. The Marina was immaculate. I wanted it but my useless uncle sold it outside the family for bu99er all. My dad's dad had an Indian motorcycle at some stage, in the '20s I think. The first car of his that I know about was a '36? Morris 8. This was followed by a '23 Studebaker Big 6 which was rough as hell but it was cheap and available when he needed it. In the '50s he got a new Phase 2 Vanguard which my dad sometimes borrowed to take my mum out in before they were married. That was followed by a Mk3 Zodiac which he had when I was born. I loved that car. After that came a series of BMC cars, a Tasman, a Kimberley, and two 1500 automatic Allegros. His last car, which I still have although it will never be road legal again, was an EN Civic.

Congratulations fella My mums dad always bought chod, he had a Fiat 131 (I think) estate in yellow that had a twin cam in it, that was sold and later used in a bank robbery then burnt out, replaced with a Fiat Uno, then a Tempra. Then a mk3 Ford Orion, a Sierra estate that was mine but he used it as I was 16, a K10, a Tipo (my first car), a Mondeo mk1, a mk3 Astra, my e39 520 and now hes happy with his Peugeot 107. My dads dad had a brand new Fiesta Flight in 93, then a brand new Carina E in 96 until he died in 2011, my uncle still has it.

My mums dad never drove, my dad's dad is the end of a bell. But his uncle, and my dad's dad in my eyes, raced hovercrafts and even won the equivalent of a world title in his age group. Unfortunately I missed the chance to drive the hovercrafts and missed my calling in life

My grandad lived in Newbury and was a butchers boy, the horse for the horse and cart was an ex-racehorse story goes one day grandad gave it 'the beans' and it took off down the street.
Congratulations, no grandkids yet but certainly old enough.

Congratulations! I shall never become a Grandad myself as I am unlikely to become a father, so enjoy!
My maternal Grandad never drove, but he could throw darts like a professional. Sadly he died when I was 4 so I never saw him play.
My Dad's Dad died before I was born, and spent a long time working for Castrol during the war and in the post-war period. He had, amongst other vehicles) a massive Dodge woodie that he loved. Apparently he also had a job to demonstrate an early car that could do 100 mph. When customers said that "it wouldn't do 100", he used to give the car the once over, then take the customer out in their car, and do 100. It was usually their bottle that went! My Dad did once tell me the make but I can't remember. I shall endeavour to find out!!

Congratulations π
One of my grandads drove a scrap wagon and a Bedford cf v8 A team replica. The other apparently drove a cortina but my dad crashed that before I was born and apparently my grandad was so devastated by the premature loss of his pride and joy, that he gave up on driving.

Welcome to the world of grandparenting! I have two, you will be spending time doing all the things you had no excuse to do before like trying to ride child size tricycles and looking at matchbox tracks and old style pedal cars. Ive got an old XJ6 pedal car in the shed awaiting the time when my eldest granddaughters legs are long enough and her coordination good enough to race it down the garden. It gives you a real boost. Enjoyπ
