Hi guys, I'm working on a project in the niche area of classic car audio and am looking for opinions of real old car owners on audio in their car and what they'd like to improve. I've put together a survey that takes 2 minutes and would really appreciate any feedback! www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/classiccaraudio Thanks!

From the survey, I'm guessing you're looking to fit a portable car audio device into a car? . I've answered. Some here will know I like a bit of audio in my cars, but seldon have the patience/time to do it. My cars are as follows with the Audio setups: Merc : Alpine 9887R HU with the BT-100 Bluetooth/AZDP playback box. Boston Acustics Coaxials driven off a Blaupunkt 60W x 4 amplifier. Then I have a Phase Linear Aliante sub powered off an Alpine 160W x 2 channel amplifier. Those figures are in RMS M3 : Stock with Harman Kardon bar the Sony AX100 head unit, with CarPlay and Android Auto. That IMHO really has helped turn the car from being a nice long distance car to something that can now destroy continents without effort. I've tried the following in 3 cars: JBL Flip : Ford Mondeo Mk4, Triumph Stag, MG Midget. IMHO, it really needed cranking to get volume out of it, and home systems tend to be too 'bright' sounding in a car, due to the car's acoustics genenrally being far more reflective. This is where car based speakers and decent setup from time alignment and careful EQing can really pay dividends. They're not a patch on the Merc's system and honestly, I potentially plan to improve the Merc's setup. Denon Envaya : Mondeo Mk4 & a Citroen 2CV. It was OK in the Mondeo, also in the 2CV, but useless in the 2CV above 50MPH, even at full whack on the volume. This is a music box which IME is very good at home and outside in the garden for the size of it. Again, it doens't really compare to the Merc, or even the M3 or Mondeo. But I'll admit, I do enjoy a nice sound from the music ; after all, it does help you enjoy it . The issue is that not all OEM systems sound the same. Stock Saab and BMW systems seemed like they couldn't be bothered, but then I guess they did offer superior options... Ford tend to be very good for stock sound systems and VW aren't too bad either.

Done, even though I don’t own a classic. Quite enjoyed it!
