Did I get the title right? Maybe it needed more @’s...
Twelve years ago I had vibrant intentions for this Zed. I was going to paint it yellow, fit BBS wheels and re-create the famous press car. Instead I half heatedly kept it going and parked it in a barn. For what it’s worth that’s genuine farmyard dust which has settled naturally over the best part of 1,800 days. Back then Brexit didn’t exist and Top Gear was fantastic. Can you put a price on such authenticity? I can and it’s an extra grand. But I’m not a greedy man and since the tyres are all flat, how about I throw in the magic dust for free. A Retro Rides discount if you will.
White 1991 300ZX Twin Turbo
UK car
Automatic
82,000 miles
Stainless exhaust (Mongoose I think)
Fibreglass rear spoiler
Black leather interior
It starts, stops and drives. It has no MOT and is a project.
In my care since 2007 and I might have clocked a thousand miles. Pathetic, I know. There’s MOT certificates back to its early days but no history. I used to keep it MOT’d but gave up in 2014. It shouldn’t have deteriorated much since its last test. I’m not putting it through one because a) I won’t get it back in the barn once it’s out and b) I’ll decide I should keep it and groundhog day will continue.
It’s bound to have some rust but shouldn’t be rotten. The sills and arches feel OK. Years ago I replaced the fuel tank and don’t remember the car falling apart. There’s some surface corrosion on the t-tops and windscreen surround. It has been welded in the past. Last MOT had no advisories. One before advised the usual things for an old car.
The tyres hold air but have sat flat. Personally I wouldn’t drive on them.
The interior is OK and everything important should work. There’s a radio, t-top covers, immobilizer and shaggy carpets. It’s not been messed about with. Wants a quick hoover but isn’t gross.
It has moved in the barn/yard during the last 5 years but hasn’t been driven so expect recommissioning.
It’s tough to price a project. I sold a perfect TT for £5000 last year and a clean TT with a blown engine for £1500 in Jan. This ones straight and working so have priced it in between. The price is £2750 ono.
Located near Eastbourne, East Sussex. I can’t deliver it but I can help or arrange transport. Any Q’s just ask.
This is what it looked like 12 years ago (and should look like with a clean):
And this is how it looks now:
Remember the value of the dust. Barn find bragging rights 'n all that.
