All depends on what you want - I gave up the going quick thing many years ago - I had loads of fun with a race team virtually every weekend through the season for 15 + years so I got it well out of my system - for the last 10 years I have had nothing but fun holding up the moderns & boy racers in something slower but comfortable & unusual come to that - 52' Jowett Javelin - not expensive either sub £10k gets you a nice one - equally a nicely looked after Rover P6 V8 if you want some grunt - but comes with style & comfort - if you want something a little newer I don't think that you could go far wrong with looked after / low owner Jag XK convertible - my neighbours have just purchased a early 2000's 4 litre one and its nothing but fabulous

Porsche Cayman? Jaguar XJR? VW Camper? a Yank? Mk1 Golf GTi? Ford Capri? Mk1 Opel Manta? Those are currently this week's list of favorites for me with a slightly lower budget?
or you could buy my lovely 1966 Mustang ;-)

Currently driving a 1972 BMW 1602 as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

For £15k I'd be importing a FD Mazda RX7 from Japan, in a nice spec and in yellow. Like this one.

For very slightly more than £15k, you could buy my X150 XK-R, which I am just preparing for sale. 4.2 Supercharged V8 430BHP 6-Speed Full Auto with Sport Model/Paddle Shift 59K Miles Factory Silver and Chrome Trims plus wheels changed to Satin Black for a more aggressive contemporary look New front Tyres just fitted (J-Marked Dunlop Sportmaxx SP as per original spec and same as the rear) New Pads all round I've owned it for 6 years. Didn't think I'd ever sell it, but purchasing a classic Ferrari needing a lot of TLC has made me decide to thin out my fleet a little Changed the oil every 3000 miles Only taken out in nice weather The car has never seen a non-genuine/factory approved part Epic engine and handling, all aluminium so feels very light and lively. The bare shell weighs less than a new MINI shell All the toys, fully loaded. 86K new in this trim! Epic Engine, quiet and civilised at normal speeds, amazing performance and supercharger whine when you put your foot down and open up the flaps in the exhaust CATS adaptive suspension, unbelievably smooth and refined, but handling is razor sharp for a big car I've driven a lot of cars and never come across anything that is so easy and happy to driven slow and sedately, yet turns into an animal when you want it to Gutted to be selling it, but if I want to get all my projects sorted out then needs must!

For around that budget you could get a good later/'99 spec car or a really nice earlier one. Had mine for over a year now and had zero issues (runs away to touch wood ). They do require a bit of looking after but not really any more than other 90's performance cars. My advice would be to find one that has not been played around with under the bonnet. I have enjoyed owning mine greatly. Every drive out puts a smile on my face, and often get a thumbs up from passers by which is nice. Another "bonus" is that my knowledge of petrol station locations in the area has increased greatly...

I would buy a mk1 Celica or an a series manta, what cars did you love on your walk home from school? Ive been lucky enough to have already owned most of the cars on my bucket list, Current cars are... Z4 MGB Roadster Astra gsi Red top VW T5 Only 2 left but at the present moment of time they are well out of my reach, Noble M12 & and a Aston Martin so I'm looking for something a bit different to the norm. I'd really like a mk2 cavalier sri 130 4 door but when was the last time you seen one of them.
