Quick summary
1993 Saab 900i 16v 3dr coupe. One of the last made. Driving project. Will go anywhere but does need some TLC, mostly cosmetic.
How does it drive?
It starts, moves and stops fine. 5sp manual, goes through the gears and pulls very well. It's the 16v B202 engine with fuel injection. Good turn of pace considering its weight and perfect motorway cruiser. Pulls a little to the left – always has.
What’s it like outside?
Showing its age but OK. Imola red which shines pretty well. There’s a battle scar / dent on the passenger door, a few scratches the other side and a couple of the arch extensions have dents. Bumpers, lights and glass are good. Nice set of 3 spoke alloys and a few aero parts. Has a sunroof.
What’s it like inside?
Again OK for its age and miles. Seats are comfy. Dials, wipers, lights, heater etc work and it has a modern USB stereo. There’s general wear to the fabric. The headlining is artistically attached after coming down – it’s a Saab thing! Massive boot and the seats fold flat. You could camp in it if your heart desired.
What have you had fixed and is there history?
New front brakes, thermostat and coolant change this month. Also corrected some shoddy work another garage carried out on the suspension. There’s lots of history/invoices going back to 1996 when it was purchased with 8500 miles on the clock for £11,245. Sales receipts for services and repairs, original advert pictures and all sorts.
What do I need to fix soon?
There’s a slight blow on the exhaust but it should go through its next MOT. Handbrake works fine but will benefit from another cable.
What do I need to fix later?
Previous MOT’s mention some rust around the boot floor and front valance. Neither are structural – it’s where the rubber bungs used to be – but if you kill it now it won’t spread further. Also a little along the inside of the door. How far you go tidying it up – headlining, bodywork, dents etc is entirely up to you. Front seat flippers work but would look neater with handles.
Will it get me home?
Should do – it’s never let me down. Mechanically all seems good.
What's your best price?
Ah that old chestnut. The best price. I’d like £950 but I will listen to a sensible offer.
