And, GADS! AK! Dig out that RF article and post it to me posthaste, if you have an ounce of human compassion. ;D I'm tingling all over, as GAA heads are far more common than GAA blocks. Sounds like a great adaptation of thoughts outside the box. PM me your address, I'll check what P&P will cost and see if I can get you a copy of the mag, not sure if theres been a new issue since then. Likely to be a tenner or Mag + P&P. I'd just mail you my copy but I am going to keep it for the same article for the "library"

I too would be enclined to see how it goes with the stock motor, its only 140hp (if its a good un, most are only around 120 and ive seen one on the rollers make 106! the heads need a lot of flash removing to acheive book figuires.)
but its not that difficult or expensive to get it upto 150- 160 with mega torque.
EDIT:
looking at carfolio a stock dolly sprint is:
127.0 bhp @ 5200 rpm Max. torque 122 lbft
and 0-60 in 9.1seconds, weighing 991kg
comparing that to a scimitar (only essex car I have experiance of):
138.0 bhp @ 5000 rpm Max. torque 192 lbft
and 0-60 in 8.5 to 8.9seconds depending on box, weighing 1100kg.
so I suspect a sprint with 10hp more, and 80lbft more than stock would indeed go better than stock, quite a bit better.
but if dads is anything to go by they keep pulling at 5krpm and the power / torque is a constant climb according to the rolling road results, the guy backed off before the torque and power even started to think about dropping off / not building at the same rate.

I would really love to build myself a Mk. 1 Capri with a Cosworth EFI motor in it, tuned to within an inch of its life. ;D Some day, when circumstances permit... "I'm"

192ft.lb! That's it sold to me then, I wouldn't mind! The only thing that's a downer is it might be a bit nose heavy but I'm sure I can stiffen up the front to stop it diving too much Cheers for that RatLook!

Essex mounts and Cologne mounts are completely different. On the Capri, consequently, even the crossmember is different. On the plus side, the bellhousing pattern is the same. BTW, the first Cossie V6 was Essex-derived, the mighty 3.4L GAA 24v DOHC. It was the first V6 Cosworth ever designed, and was a pure race motor for Grp2 Capri touring cars and, later, F5000. The "other" Ford Cossie V6 is, of course, the Granny 2.9L. Also 24v DOHC. Production car motor. how is the crossmember different? i've just replaced all the front suspension on my 3litre and refurbed ie cleaned and painted a 2.8 crossmember to replace the old one and it was identical in every way ;D also how are gaa heads more common? i've been looking for a pair for quite a while and would kill to get my hands on a couple. any handy hints would be most appreciative chap ;D ;D ;D

Who said GAA heads were common? But there is a set on eFlay right now, if'n you can't live another minute without a pair hanging on the wall!

The torque goes for a wander off somewhere at about 4500rpm and the big dip in power is due to the restricive exhaust manifolds. Not bad for a bog standard engine (running on an Emerald ECU) that had done well in excessive of 100K, been driven 70 miles to the RR to find out the sump was dry. When it was on the rollers he took it to 7k a couple of times but set the rev limit to about 6250-6500. RR was in october last year and the engine let go around june this year after either a piston disintergrated or a rod bolt went on holiday. 2 days later, spare engine swapped in, running much better and made a 14.66 second quater mile at Classic ford day at the pod. Over 200bhp and 200lb/ft of torque can't be a bad thing
