Hi all Just finally wanted to start a thread on my Moskvich 412 Ex Russian PoPo car.
I'm just trying Tapatalk for the first time as I don't use a pc any more at home, so if the images come out wrong I apologise.
Anyway so this is my work in progress that started life long ago in a factory in the corner of Moscow.
Old specs (if you don't know) in the car were an astounding 1.5 litre 75bhp lump with all important RWD and weighing (more important) 1045kg. 0-60 could be hammered out in around 18-20seconds with an awe inspiring 75mph wind in your hair top speed, while the 4 speed box made you feel like every road was a race track.
It's been changed - a lot. And continues to be changed - a lot. I will get details up when I've seen how this posts from my phone.
Car won Coolest car in show at Retrorides last year - which was a huge surprise.
I've met a few people on here around the streets of Brighton (I live 15 mins from Goodwood) generally jolly nice chaps.
Anyway, the car .......

So my girlfriend fell in love with this as soon as she saw it for sale, and against my decision of purchasing a Toyota Corolla (circa 1980s) made me realise I already have too many toys and she should be heard. We are both motorcycle obsessed but I also have the car affliction too. Yey The previous owners built it from a cheap Lithuanian import to complete a rally for charity to the Ring and Stelvio etc so most work was done by them however we are spending the time to do it properly and get all of it sorted correctly and so it runs like a dream rather than a nightmare. Here are some pics previously. More coming Original engine, trial fits, suspension. Ohlins rear motorcycle coils with airbags Front Gaz coilovers at 350lb Engine is ford zetec with bda cam cover, type 9 box, Vernier pullies and uprated cams Volvo LSD and rear axle with machined down Sierra disks. Banded T5 wheels with Prox all round which are stretched More to come on spec soon and more images

Cbr1000 bike carbs with a lot of jet fettling. Custom manifold, fabricated Formula Ford sump and a nodiz ecu running a simple map (works for now) List of jobs still to do: Dash doesn't work Wiring is old and terrible needs all hiding and replaving Suspension is not set up (at all) Steering lock needs attention Wheel clearance needs attention for lowering more (it's not low enough) Handbrake needs sorting dramatically as it's just a doing The alternator us a joke. Has no adjustment, had no room for adjustment either so cutting etc is required to make room Seat belts - yea, no And a whole lot more. It does look and sound mental though - 1st world problems solved More coming

Every now and then, a car comes along.
Your car just came along.
Your girlfriend is a keeper, both for riding and also for helping you make the right choice.
Just bloody awesome
Deserves the win you got as well.

Love this! Interesting choice of car and some great work gone into it already.
It sounds like you are local to me so I hope to see it out and about sometime.

Isn't this actually an IZh (ИЖ)? The Moskvich has a chrome grille. Great car, but why not tune the original one? It is a capable motor, has some BMW M115-inspired parts(bore spacing isn't one of them tho, 104mm vs 98mm). There's a guy in Finland that twin-turboed it and it's making I think 800+hp.

No it is a Mosk mate. In paperwork and history check. The first engine was already in it as the stock motor was pretty old and knackered. Plus I like unusual swaps. I'll get more details in it if you like
