Around my barn in pitch black and i'd like a way of illuminating any scrotes which come sniffing after hours
i have in mind the kind of brightness from the typical halogen flood light but i have no mains power so thought about solar
I thought maybe £100 might get a half desent one but there is a lot of choice so thought i'd ask here for anyone who has one?

I think you will struggle to get anything combined to match a mains unit output wise, I tend to go for separates so if for example the PIR fails which they do you can just change that rather than the whole unit

thanks, can you explain what is meant by combined or separate?
I would have one with a solar panel on a lead as i need to leave it in the sun

Be interesting to see how it performs and lasts, normally I buy a light fitting, separate PIR and if its got no electric go for a car battery and solar panel charger and get all 12V stuff, works out more expensive but lasts longer in light output and life of the equipment

costco, around 40quid, has 3 banks of super bright led, that can be sperately aimed so you get a hell of a spread of bright light, can be set for various lengths of time, pretty big solar panel as well, it lights up our entire garden from the shed a the bottom of it

I’d buy a light bar off eBay and a stand alone PIR and use a car battery. You can just put the battery on charge every few weeks.
