	Hi all, Wandered down to the post office looking to change the new car from 'disabled' to PLG. Post Office man didn't look sure, but told me to fill in a V62. I couldn't on the spot, and I argued (in a very polite and British way) that the website makes no mention of needing to do a V62...just proof of insurance and MOT. So which one is it? In any case I'm stuck with my car untaxed and SORN atm...

	www.gov.uk/change-vehicle-tax-class/tax-due-to-run-out-or-changing-if-vehicle-is-exempt What to take to the Post Office You need to take: the V5C registration certificate (log book) in your name, or a new keeper supplement (V5C/2) if you’ve just bought the vehicle your vehicle tax reminder letter (V11) if you have one an MOT certificate that’s valid when the tax starts, or evidence if your vehicle’s exempt from an MOT (V112) evidence of any eligibility for a disability exemption payment for vehicle tax (if you have to pay for your new tax class) an insurance certificate or cover note (only in Northern Ireland) the post office in takeley shop should be able to do it What happens next The Post Office sends your V5C, V5C/2 or V62 to DVLA. You’ll get a confirmation from DVLA within 10 working days that the change has been made. DVLA will send you an updated V5C. You’ll get a refund within 6 weeks (if you’re due one). Contact DVLA if it hasn’t arrived after 6 weeks. You can still use your vehicle while your application is being processed.

	Shmbo went through this just a few months ago. Her iveco coach used to be commercial, she bought it and used it as disabled (exempt) tax. When she wanted to change it to private ( not exempt) tax, her post office insisted she pay the old commercial rate, as dvla needed to process the change and send a refund ( if any) She was not happy ! It might be just her post office but I think it meant paying 1 month commercial rate then dropping to normal rate.
