Owned this car for 3 years and didn't think I'd sell it, but life changes and here it is.
MX5 NB Icon special edition with a factory body kit. 142132 miles, done less than 1400 miles this year! Car will have 12 months MOT, it's due in December anyway!
Icon special edition has the six speed gearbox and a LSD, leather seats and Nardi steering wheel and gear knob. Has a matching hardtop.
Good bits=
Very reliable, we've done some huge trips in this car, Brno in the Czech Republic being the longest, 3 holidays to the South of France and I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and go anywhere in it. Always had quality oil and parts.
Looks very good with the Merlot red paint, Bronze Rotas and a 30mm drop via Eibach springs which were fitted by a MX5 specialist Kent MX5 , the cars geometry was checked at the same time.
The interior is good too, with just a little age wear to the drivers leather seat, the passenger seat had a new leather panel put in when I had a new hood fitted and it's a slightly lighter shade, but I guess this will "wear in".
As I said above, a new vinyl hood was fitted about 2 years ago and is still in perfect condition, vinyl because I life near the coast and the seagulls would kill a mohair hood!
Uniroyal Rainsports are almost new all round.
New ABS sensors fitted a year (ish) ago.
Bad bits=
It's a NB MX5 and they love to rust! However, the chassis rails were done 3 years ago, the sills a year before that, again at a MX5 specialist MX5 Restorer so another couple of MOT passes before more work is needed.
One rear arch has developed a cosmetic scab, but apart from that, it's not bad for a 18 year old car.
The only other issues are a rattle from the heat shield on the rear exhaust box and a non working air con. Pump was seized when I purchased the car and the system was removed.
Lots of fun to drive, every car person should own one at least once in their life and it's not too bad on the insurance, they're on Classic policies now. And it does have a legal plate, only it's in the boot, your choice to fit or not!
Pictures are worth a 1000 words, so here you are. Sexy pictures first, then cars condition now, which isn't much different.
