For sale is my Mercedes E240 2.6 V6 Avantgarde Estate (S210 model). Owned this a few weeks, and was purchased for moving / tip duties. No longer needed and is surplus to requirements.
I purchased this locally and it actually ended up belonging to the father of my Mercedes specialist (small world!). Once I knew it was his, I knew the car would be decent mechanically - and it is!
M112.911 Engine Code / 2.6 Litre / V6 / 18 Valve / 170 BHP / 35+ MPG
Starts first turn of the key. No leaks. No overheating - will sit for ages in traffic and the temperature needle does not move from it's designated spot. Idles in the correct manner.
Pulls well in every gear. Gearbox changes as it should, and also works fine in manual / tiptronic mode.
Engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes, etc are all spot on. There are no knocks or bangs when going over potholes, which often blights these cars. I've had loads of these over the years, also I know them quite well and know what to look out for.
MOT until end of the month. The advisories for rear tyres, brake pads and bearing have been sorted. Might need some light welding to get through this MOT, based on the advisories last year (but then again, it may be fine as only done 3k miles since).
Tyres are excellent - the front two are matching Nexen N8000 and the rears are a matching pair of Nexen NFera SU1 (only a few months old) - the tyre size being 235 / 45 / all round.
Specification includes: Brilliant Silver, Anthracite Cloth Interior, 7 Seat Model, 17" Alloy Wheels (Rare), Electric Windows x 4, Air Cooled Storage Compartment, Electric Folding Door Mirrors, Headlamp Wash Wipe, Power Steering, Walnut Burr Trim, Auto Dim Rear View Mirror, Multi Function Steering Wheel, Cruise Control, Remote Central Locking, Alarm & Immobiliser, Mercedes Spare Wheel, etc.
It has had a HID light upgrade, which improves night vision no end.
Also had a set of rear parking sensors retro fitted, as the previous owner was getting old and needed them - these work fine.
Everything works as it should and there are currently no warning lights on the dash (apart from a bulb, which is related to the HID upgrade).
The bodywork lets this down, however. I've seen a lot worse and ones where you can put your fingers through the wings and arches - this isn't that bad, but it does have some corrosion to the wings, arches, lower doors, etc (the usual 210 weak spots). The lacquer has peeled on both rear quarters and also on a few other spots on the car. A few scuffs here and there, but look, its 18 years old and a cheap work horse. If you want a perfect one, then go and spend over £5k on it!
Interior is in decent order, with no rips or tears.
This will do the job of a workhorse very well. It will even serve as a reliable daily hack, if you aren't bothered about the bodywork. It's smooth, quiet, spacious, comfortable and totally dependable.
It has the rare 17" wheel upgrade, which have the wider 235-section tyres. These wheels refurbished can often sell for over £450 a set on eBay (my cousin picked up a set last year for just over £400).
