I have spent months trying to find the right colour for my little Austin A35 van, Last week I thought I had found a Fiat beige cuppachino from a 500 that would look period and ok, For all intents, its almost pink on the van, URGH
SO........ one colour I saw a little while ago was on a 2004 Honda Jazz, A sort of Dirty Yellow, looks like a soft yellow with a lot of black in it, anybody know the colour, and whats it called..... or any other colours that might suit my little van, got to be subtle, and not Green

Go into the Honda dealership and just ask them for the paint code. That's what I did when I was looking for a colour for my car. Most of the dealerships were very helpful, only my local ford dealer wouldn't help at all. Annoyingly it was a Ford I was painting!

I'm liking greys at the moment. Ford Purbeck perhaps or the darker grey you see on 500's.

Could it have been Orchid Yellow? Trouble is, if you do an image search almost all the results will be a bright yellow but it should be a sort of dirty-white colour that can look grey or very pale yellow depending on the light. If I've got the correct colour, it looks like this. Arum White (listed usually as Austin or Rover) is a good yellow-white well suited to the peanut's shape and tends not to look dirty or dull.

Ian - This is what I suggest to my clients whom are unsure on what colour / colour scheme they want - go to your nearest large DIY store paint section - pull the swatches of the colours that peak your interest and take them home - then have a think about them - deleting the ones that that you thought may work initially but now don't - keep reducing the shortlist until you make a final decision but remember to check against external trim & interior trim for contrast etc - once you have a final decision hunt out a good independent automotive paint factor - take your colour swatch / chip and get them to match to the nearest available colour in a automotive finish - most of the factors are very helpful - mine just lets me run through the swatches until I find what I need This was a old BSA motorcycle tank that I took to them recently - no idea what the colour was or colour code etc Just leafed through the colour reference swatches until we found something - a GM / Opel colour that was close enough I like your idea of grey - Austin did the van in mid light dove grey in period but the Fiat darker grey that you mention would work very well IMO

Thanks for the replies, I have been looking for the right colour for ages, the fiat grey has been thought about quite a lot, and I have a pile of B&Q swatches already, but the boss seems to disagree with every colour I like, its getting frustrating, Skoda steel grey is not bad either, it's got to be a period type colour, Ford Dorchester grey, Morris Rose taupe wwould probably work, but there seems to be somany variations ofthe same colour,

How about late '50s Ford Pembroke Coral. Lovely period colour and can be used with either grey or Ermine white roof for a 2 tone.

I love Pembroke Coral, I had my V8 Mk1 ZZ painted VW Beetle Anthracite, American 5 spokes with the spokes painted Pembroke coral, and I have a mate with a Squire painted in Pembroke

lipari blue, as seen on 80's minis? My sister had one this colour, dad had a good go at making it look like a mk1 as we thought the colour looked right. I always thought that if it was done properly with an old english white roof youd never know it was an 80's colour. this picture shows the colour being a little more vivid than i remember it.

Ah yes, the good old Varicose Vein Blue so favoured of pensioners and tightwads of the era. It's a properly nostalgic colour.

Farina grey is a nice grey tint from the period. There might be darker variants as well.
