Hi all
I have recently managed to get hold of a set of 4x108x5.5"/6" Cosmic Alloy rims they need a refer-b my question is what colour options do I have?
Did they just come out of the factory Black with polished alloy highlights or did they come from the factory in many different colours?
I would like to keep as stock as possible late 60's
Any help much appreciated?

Most of the cosmics ive seen have been black, ive seen some in gold but i don't know if thats a factory colour or not. I saw a dark blue mini a while back with colour coded cosmics. It looked really smart and didnt stand out as being non factory, would probably only work well on a dark coloured car. Ive seen afew sets unpainted but i don't know if thats factory or not

Here you go - factory brochures of the period mk1-performance-conversions.co.uk/cosmic.htmThe Cosmic brochure from the late 60's gives the MK1 in only a Silver finish. The '72 brochure just lists Black and machined for the MK1 and MK2 in all the different stud versions. Different colour options unlikely due to colour mismatches.

I was just about to send the link to the period brochure I found another similar source once too, will have a dig for it. My mom and dad met working at Cosmic but sadly didn't keep any merchandise or literature from the time.

Had these sitting in the shed and thought I would give a quick clean and see if I liked them. Thats a fail then. I had these in yellow and always thought they were an original colour.

Still available from JBW but only in 15 x 5.5 Aren’t JBW wheels all replicas or did they buy up machinery from British wheel manufacturers as they went out of business?

JBW wheels are Replicas, the rim in miaspa's picture is an original as the set I have are.
I have contacted JP Alloys Cannock with regards to referb and diamond cutting but at £88.80 a rim that's well out of my budget.
So I'm going to have them referbed and powder coated in silver then I will mask them off and paint on the the black bits my self.

My Brother Kev bought a set of 5'5 & 6x13 Cosmics in the late '70s for his Avenger Gt. They were black. They later went on to his 3 litre Capri. Photo shows the final car we had them on, my MAGENTa Tarragon TXR that I'd 'recycled' various rotten Capris into.

Had a set of 6" Cosmics on my Pube until earlier this year (as Pete knows). They do look lost in the huge arches though. The extra .5" width over the 5.5" wheels being inset rather than outset. Got 20mm spacers on the rear and they still don't come out to the arch lip. Cost me a lot to get these diamond cut and painted, as they looked initially like they'd come out of a lake. Gone back to my wide steels atm. Probably my most favourite alloy wheel tbh.
