I have a Toyota Hilux Surf which I bought with a poorly installed, cheap LPG kit that I immediately removed.
However, the V5C still states it is 'Petrol / Gas'.
If I want to change this to just 'Petrol', can I do this as a routine change (like changing the colour), or will it need some certificate of having been professionally uninstalled?
Thanks

Write to the Dvla notifying a change back to petrol only, they will either change it or write back asking for a letter on headed paper saying it's been inspected and you aren't lying. It's a stupid system.

Tell the DVLA it's been changed via the V5.

don't you get cheaper road tax as its a hybrid (genuine question) I don’t think that applies to converted LPG cars, it might do but it certainly isn’t a ‘hybrid’, it’s dual/multi fuel.

It does get cheaper for LPG cars, but you are talking £5-10 per annum tops. So I wouldn't get too excited .

You can skip congestion charges & get free city centre parking with London approved LPG installs Edited for accuracy . I've had certified installs and even with the green ticket issued (which TBH as 'the certificate' isn't worth the paper it's written on), they still are not exempt. The only way to make them exempt is to get the car tested in London for an emissions reduction. Lorries have had a similar thing, but for road tax etc. for years with retrofitted DPFs but I think that's been scrapped now ; It was called a Reduced Pollution Certificate (RPC). LPG alsi kicks out more CO than petrol in a few cases, hence why the MOT test differs for them under a different emissions regime using an equation to determine this if the machine does not have LPG set into it.
