There was a country (europe) wide shortage late last month/early this month with breweries etc running short. It'll take a while before the supply resettles itself so in short, yes.
Something to do with 2 plants going offline at the same time because why would they talk to each other...?

Hi, Yes it was affecting foodstuffs as well because it's used in packaging to keep them fresh.

Compressed gas in general, and air conditioning gas too.

Hi, The aircon gas is for different reasons. They are helping the adoption of the new gas by restricting the availability of R134a and thus increasing the price to help it along.

Battling to get sand cores blown with co2, foundry has had no gas delivery for three weeks 🙁

From what my gas supplier was telling me 2 of the 3 man plants were shut down and the 3rd something broke, he said all 3 should be up and running by the end of July start of August, I havnt suffered though he has a decent supply of the size bottle I use

Hit up some fire alarm / extinguisher companies and you should be able to get a good supply of co2..i used to sell a lot of s/h units £5 for 2kg.

I had the last brewery size bottle that my supplier had in stock a couple of weeks back. He said he didn't know when the next delivery would be due to the factory closures

There are five main companies in Europe that supply co2. Co2 is a by product of nitrogen fertiliser manufacture,and, as such all five companies produce fertiliser. Fertiliser is seasonal,so plant maintenance happens in spring and beginning of summer. Two plants were down for scheduled maintenance,both came back on line,as two more went down. Then,there was a fire that pretty much destroyed the one that had just come back on line. Then the hot weather struck and demand for carbonated drinks,both alcoholic and non, went through the roof. Hierarchy goes Medical,Food and beverage, Agricultue,Industry tied into a supply contract and then industry non contract. Plants are starting to produce fertiliser again and deliveries should stabilise by the end of August.
