Hi guys, I've got a 73 Mercedes w115 and there is no power going around the board that houses tail lights/ reverse/ brakes lights. Very thin layer of solder going to each of the 3 bulbs and there are very fine hairline cracks which may be the cause.
Has anyone used conductive paint before and would it work on something like this? There seem to be a few knocking about for around a tenner but wanted advise before buying, thanks in advance.

Can you not just re-flow the existing solder?
By this I mean get a soldering iron and a little fresh solder and apply it to the existing just enough that it turns to liquid and flows together. You may need to do it in sections if the tracks are long.

someone recommended this paint due to the solder being a very thin layer on the board, they mentioned solder would burn out

If there's room, can you not just bypass the iffy solder and just go point to point with lengths of thin wire?

I wonder if you mean "track" (i.e. a conductive material laid down on a non-conductive substrate to form a circuit) rather than "solder" (i.e. a material that becomes molten when heated and is used to connect components to tracks)? Can you post a picture of the item in question?

I wouldn't use the paint, previously on my old E32 7 series I had to do similar to resolve a load of failures on the lighting control unit. I took single strands of copper and soldered them along the cracked tracks which gave the solder something to bond with properly.

That sounds like a much better plan, miker

Never had any success repairing a PCB with paint (be it in Automotive or industrial electrics) - either a parallel wire, or using wire as a substrate to solder to the remains of the track as miker33 suggests

Can you refloat the solder with a very high temp airgun as found on soldering stations.
