I have a 1992 Nissan 100nx
currently having issues starting
I thought It was a fuelling issue and checked the mechanical fuel pump (all fine)
I went to check the fuel pump in the tank but there isn't one.
I was really confused at this
should it have a electrical fuel pump its a 1.6 carb engine,
I am currently away from home with work so cant check to see if there is an inline one and looking online there isn't much I can find,
the later years 100nx was fuel injected so have in tank fuel pumps.
surely the mechanical one isn't enough?
please help

Most carb'd cars I've ever seen only ever have one fuel pump. They tend to either an electric one at the back outside of the tank or an engine block mounted item.

I don't know the car, but I can't see why a mechanical pump wouldn't be enough to feed a 1.6 engine - my 2.3 Vauxhall had one from new without any trouble.
If the pump isn't pulling fuel through, check that it doesn't have diaphragm or valve issues, and check and connections on the fuel line to make sure it's not pulling in air. One issue on the Vauxhall engine is that if it's stood for some time (months) it can turn over slowly, too slowly to make the pump pull fuel down if it's all run back to the tank. If you spray a bit of easy-start into the carb directly, does it try to start? Sometimes that's enough to make it pull fuel down and carry on running, when cranking speed might not be.

Hi, Are you sure it's getting spark both in the run and starting positions ie. check the ballast bypass wire is connected on the starter and is working.

What he said ^
Without a bright spark being available the car will never run.
