The F1 circus arrived at Buxton this Sunday so I had a little trip over. It was (unusually) absolutelt boiling. And very busy. The Veteran Stock Car Association had a marquee in the pits, there were old boys mooching about duscussing engines and who owned what cars when and generally having a nice time. The modern F1s always have a good turn out and loyal fans, and coupled with the sunshine there was a bit of a carnival atmosphere.
Anyway, have some crappy snap shots taken with my phone, it was so bright I couldn't realy see what I was snapping. Then my battery died.
Think these two are survivors and raced in the 60s
They are all replicas of cars raced, actual cars raced and dragged out of hiding, or built "in the spirt" of older cars (I think).
Big chassis rails, truck axles, leaf springs and American V8 power. Jag engines used to be popular too.
I love stub exhausts.
Wide steels and stretched tyres. Fashion realy does go around and around! Some drivers managed nearly 2 laps before the old crossplies cooked and it turned into a slide fest. Not fast, but really good fun.
That's yer lot I'm afraid.
