****Selling as spares or repair****
1998 R Reg MOT until 2nd April 2019 82,000 ish miles 1.9 Automatic Red (hellrot) I bought this about a month ago for the summer, but I cant seem to get on with it, I think it's got a problem, but a BMW specialist plugged it in and no fault codes came up. Bad bits first: -Start it up and away you go everything's fine, but once the car has warmed up when you stop at a junction, or in traffic it feels like the rear of the car lifts up and puts itself into neutral for a split second then goes back to normal, it might do this a couple of time a minute, the car still drives. annoys the hell out of me though. -The drivers side mirror is only taped on, the aluminium shaft bit inside is broken. -There's a dent on the drivers side rear quarter, but it's double skinned so wont just push out from the inside -It's 20 years old, so there are a few scratches on the paintwork. -The aircon might need regassing, you can hear it come on, but it's about as cold as breathing on the back of your hand. It had a differential oil change at the weekend (Redline 75w90) I think it's a japanese import, there are japanese stickers under the bonnet, and the V5 mentions it being registered overseas. I don't have much paperwork other than old MOT certificates. There's only 1 key. I'd like to get around £ No longer available. for it, I'd swap it for something Automatic. I've only the 1 photo at the moment, if anyone is remotely interested, then I'll take it down by the river and take some fancy pants ones. Any questions fire away.

If that were a manual, I would have had this off you. Need a cheap run around for the wife after we sold her 335i.
Have you tried a gearbox oil and filter change? If the fluid is low due to a leak, this can cause the issue. I had a similar issue on a few BMWs in the past, and changing the gearbox oil and filet (or entire sump depending on model) made a huge difference.
I think these are the the bottom of the price range at the moment, I can see them creeping in value over the next few years.
GLWS.

I haven't changed the auto transmission fluid yet, was thinking about it but didn't want to spend out and it wasn't any better.
The worst bit is sitting on a hill, if you're not on the brakes it will roll backwards until it 'engages' again then moves forward. pain the the harris. I just want rid to be honest. I paid £1800 for it about a month ago hoping that the prices might go up a bit, certainly the 2.8's seem to be worth a bit.

You beat me to the suggestion in relation to the 'box. Had a similar issue on a VW that was fixed by a fluid/filter change. I run a 2.8 and tbh i cant fault it (apart from the wobbly seat guides that i need to fix)

Seems to struggle to pull away in the 'E' mode on the gearbox, put it into 'M' and it drives, but is slow to pull away at junctions etc.
Price drop to £800 or offers.

After having this on eBay for a week, the winning bidder tells me his account was hacked, he didn't bid and that he isn't interested in cars! Personally I think it's bovine faeces, but ho-hum.
Anyway, it still drives, as long as you don't want to pull away fast.
I need it gone this weekend, I'm waiting to pick another car up, but this is taking up the space!
£400

OK, this needs to go by the weekend, else it ends up at the breakers.
Now sold! (Finally).

Really surprised it didn't sell quicker, it was an absolute steal of a bargain and had it still been here this afternoon i'd have risked divorce and thrust notes in your hand in the ambitious dream of turning it into a Kobra replica.
