A nice drive out in the MX5 to Haynes for the breakfast meet, I went to one last year and the variety of cars is outstanding. A gathering where my 2 favourite cars were a '68 Camaro and a 948cc Triumph Herald Coupe has to have something going for it.
After a sunny drive down the last few miles were misty and initially the weather was misty and overcast but that didn't last long. The pictures are out of order so excuse the swaps between mist and sun...
Just after I arrived this pulled in DIY MKIII Capri convertible, it looked pretty good.
Parked up along a bit was this very nice AC Ace,
Quite a contrast to a Cobra that was parked outside the museum, I think I actually prefer the Ace.
Soon after I parked up this arrived and sounded brilliant, I'm heavily biased as my favourite Corgi toy was the take-off wheels Camaro convertible but this is my favourite US Muscle car.
The owner said it was registered 1:Jan:1968!
Just to show the range of cars it was parked next to an air ride Seat (I hope it's on air).
There were a lot of Triumph Heralds, I used to have a 13/60 convertible so they're a favourite of mine
I spoke to the owner of this one, she was trying to keep control of her 3 kids running riot inside it, very much a family car. She said she'd had it for 28 years although she didn't look young enough to have had it that long as a driver, she also has a Vitesse under restoration.
This is the Coupe, lilac and white just looked so good and the numberplate seems appropriate.
A bit of Americana excess
50bhp inspiration for your trailer, a bit of fablon and some stuck on wood strip...
Back to basics...
Saw (and heard) it drive off later looked great fun (goggles required though).
It's an Exige (well given the number plate I hope it is) matt black wrap(?), there were a lot of Elise's and variations of present.
Who needs a burglar alarm when you leave a Tiger in your car, particularly when the car is a...
How about a bit of a contrast
Don't know what McLaren it is (570GT?) they all look so similar...
High tech vs traditional tech...
One for @quatermass
Interesting choice of engine
When was the last time you saw a Lancia, let alone a Monte Carlo
This one was immaculate
There seemed top be a lot of Porsche 924's
Rally replica?
There's nothing particularly special about this Clio but the Gordini paint scheme looks good.
I like Astons particularly V8's, this one was fresh from an interior restoration judging from the leather smell coming from inside, did look good.
I spent ages waiting to get a good shot of this paint job but in the end it doesn't really show up, multilayer flames. To me, and most others judging by over heard comments, the wheels spoil it.
To finish on a 80's theme...
Back in the mid 80's I had a company XR3i the rung above on the car list had these although mainly in white, my XR3i was black.
Yuppie alert
But not a really successful one as it's 'only' a Carrera not a turbo, but at least ity's guards red!
and finally this is what I arrived in...
For anybody in the South West I'd really recommend a visit, first Sunday of every month 9am.
