Hello all,
I am a long time lurker but have never posted before.
So, having spent a lifetime in and around just about every car Triumph ever made I have, quite inadvertently, ended up with a mk3 Fiesta 1.1 – Christened the little red bug by my kids. For various reasons I find myself Triumph-less at the moment but the Fez is modern enough to be usable, has rear belts for the kids and most importantly appeals to my Fiesta-loving Wife, who trashed several of the poor things in her youth.
I have only had it a few weeks but I have to say I really like it. It is my first Ford and about 20 years newer than any of my previous cars so it’s a steep learning curve. Thankfully, the car only requires general tidying rather than anything major. It’s had new sills put on in the past but they seem to have been done properly. There is a tiny bit of bubbling on one rear arch which I will get sorted sooner rather than later. The boot lock is badly worn and only opens when the moon is in just the right alignment. It’s also, and most annoyingly, missing its radiator grille. I have managed to source one (not easy) but have since discovered I need 3 metal clips to fit it which didn’t come with it and no one seems to have so ideas on a postcard please.
Other than that it’s just a really good laugh. Obviously it isn’t quick but because it’s so small and low it feels like you are going faster than you are. Makes a nice antidote to my boring Citroen Picasso bus that I’m forced to drive normally. I don’t have any major plans for the car other than to sort out the niggles and swap the seats – the drivers one in particular is quite worn and not comfy over any distance.
