We’ve decided to sell Lucy’s bike, since we’ve had kids and I went self employed (16 years ago for both) they haven’t really worked with our lives.
So I shall sort an ad and get it up for sale, not touting for a sale here... just thought since it’s retro it may be of interest
It’s a 1989 Honda CB-1, this is it tonight... it was buried at the back of the garage, under a pile of blankets and rugs (and had been for quite a while, I MOTed it in 2013 when I sold my R1100S, but hasn’t been on the road since 2006 I think)
The custom paint, polished rims and a few other bits were done back in 1999, a month before we got married I was late for work, and my bike at the time..... this one (GSXR750J)
Was on reserve, so I borrowed Lucy’s! And after a night shift dropped it in the carpark, managing to snap the levers and mirrors off trying to save it, and scratched the tank, so mate Andy repainted it.
Lucy loves ladybirds, and so the tank then matched a lid he’d done for her a while earlier
The bike is a grey import, it was brought by a mate of a mate who was selling imports and sourced it for me, back in 1996. It was delivered to my Mum and Dads house on Christmas Eve 1996, just after Lucy dropped me off there! This was straight out of the van
And me and my dad pushed to my house, about a mile away and parked it in the lounge, so on Christmas Day Lucy came downstairs and found it
She then went out on it, it was only a little bit chilly!
We went touring....
That’s my GS550E that evolved a bit over time

(It was a bit over brakes with those gold line brembos on it)
My GS broke down in France and we used it all week two up as our transport before nursing the GS back to the UK, it was always a toy though, was too much of a faff for her to use for work (and bikes were always going missing outside the hospital)
Anyway, enough nostalgia, as you were
