Hey everyone! I've been quite quiet on here lately. I still have my Volvo 164 & Bmw E21. Recently I've been on another project collecting spree I've bought a Porsche 924. Last on the road in 2003. Which I'll make a separate thread for, at some point.
But this thread is about 'Swampy' You'll soon see why it's called that. So, Swampy was last on the road in 2004. It (along with another Golf cab) was brought down to our farm a few days ago, for temporary storage. The owner wanted to sell Swampy and I couldn't resist. Anyway, onto the pictures...
Can you see why it's called Swampy yet?
That's all for now

I would be so tempted to put a new drivers seat in that and leave the rest as is! Looks like a cool little project.

Wow, had to double take on those seats! Actually looks pretty solid from the pictures, sort of surprising considering the interior! Amazing what nature can do.

Nice. I wonder, do these branches grow through the floor or just inside the car?

Wow, had to double take on those seats! Actually looks pretty solid from the pictures, sort of surprising considering the interior! Amazing what nature can do. So far, I'm incredibly impressed with how solid it is. I took the rear seat out today, the floor underneath and the boot are like new! I'm fully expecting some welding somewhere but I've seen a much worse on the road. Nice. I wonder, do these branches grow through the floor or just inside the car? The majority have grown from the seat cushions. One or two have snuck in through the handbrake I gave it a wash after an interior clean up. Swampy scrubs up well...

Hmm, something tells me that roof isn't very water tight.

Goodness those seats are furry. I love looking at moss and lichen, but not on the inside of my car.

I would have loved to keep the seats but sadly it just wasn't going to be practical. Also it smelled like the seaside. You know that fishy/salty/rotty smell, near harbours Well today I got the interior out. This was a video before: This is a video from today after removing the seats and some carpet. Planning to remove the front carpet tomorrow.

What a car !!!! The fact that it's been a Pond for a very long time and the floors are mint is testimony to VW's of that era. Had it been a Vauxhall/ Ford etc you'd be sweeping what was left up into a binbag.

Pressure washed the seats and carpet today. I took a couple during.
and an after picture. The Sycamore tree roots. None of them broke through the carpet, just tucked it's roots in. I think the seats are savable. Hoping to keep them as original as possible, with some light restoration to the holes.

You are clearly mad to even take this on - and the the carpet with no gloves!? I would however be very concerned about mold in the foam of the seats. Amazing project though
