Hello E21 is a great purchase. From here : www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/e21.htmlKnown Problems For the 316, 318 and early 320 see M10 engine problems. For the post-79 320 and 323i see M20 engine problems. Hand brakes can seize on if left for a long time. Overheating, especially in traffic, may be a sign of a broken cooling fan clutch. Watch for rust around the inner rear wheel arches and inside the front wings (fenders). You must inspect the rear shock towers from boot / Trunk. A wobbly front end or vibration when braking hard could be worn lower control arm bushings. Forum wise: www.bmwe21.net/forum/

Do we agree on a definition of Coupe? It’s a model made with lower roof line to the standard body isn’t it? But can be 4 door? So an e36 coupe is a coupe. An e30 2 door isn’t? An e21 I guess can only be an e21. I’m quite sure a Hyundai Coupe Isn’t It’s a conversation that’s kept me and mates busy over a pint before Lovely car anyway! I would love another one

There are convertible and hardtop coupes, some with two doors, some with four, some pillarless and some with side pillars, some frameless doors and some with frames - I only know one thing... it would make for a great thread

To be honest, with old BMW's you have to be very quick off the mark. The last 2 I have bought the day they were listed online.

E21 values have shot up so much over the past few years and if it was a decent car then £3k was pretty cheap. Small wonder it was snapped up so quickly. Main issues with an E21 is rust. Spares aren't too hard to source but there's very little from other models that will fit. Fun cars and great looking with minimal effort.
