Anyone have any knowledge of valve saver/flash lube kits? I've just had a Galaxy lump put in my LPG tranny, and I need a little something to stop the soft valve seats getting recessed. There's a million and one kits for this, but I can't find any reviews or recommendations. Will a non-electric kit be OK, or do I need to shell out for the 'leccy number? Ta!

IME the electronic kits are better. The other ones only take the Flashlube in under vacuum conditions. I.E, not under wide open throttle.
It's not as simple as allowing more in either. I've created some great clouds of smoke previously because of this!

I'd be very suprised if the dohc hasn't got hard valve seats, It was designed for use witb catalysts and unleaded fuel from the outset.

I've created some great clouds of smoke previously because of this! Thanks for that, that's confirmed what I was trying to avoid thinking. Oh well, it's going to be an expensive month! kevins Cant say for sure that they don't, but they do very definitely suffer from vlave seat recession badly enough that the heads will be fubar'dafter about 20,000 miles. There's a few people have put the Galaxy engine in these transits, and without Flash(he'll-save-every-one-of-us)lube they die remarkably quickly. There was a reason given for this, but I don't remember it...

Not all hardened seats are the same.
I've had two cars still suffer from Valve Seat Recession (VSR) on LPG. The fact that LPG burns hotter and with zero lubrication even compared to 95 Sans-Plomb is why. Japanese cars tend to be the worst to suffer from them.
In our 2007 1.8 Mondeo we fittered hardened seats at 200k and it was fine beyond 325k. My sister's 2003 2.0 also had VSR on LPG at 170k The other earlier car however did 380k with it still having perfect compression when the car was broken for spares.
The caveat with the above is none of them had the valve clearances checked at 100k I admit; the garage I trusted at the time claimed they didn't need doing and I knew no better.
Ford seem to know this too. Their Focus FFV (Flexfuel) which could run on E85 had different fuel lines as well as hardened valve seats, with E85 not being as kind on ally compared to unleaded.
Flashlube certainly helps on LPG cars anyway IME, with the electronic version being superior.
BUT, I'd agree. Being an older engine it "should" be OK.
