Hey guys. Time, money, life etc has conspired against me and I’m going to have to sell my espace. I bought it in 2016 as a project with a blown head gasket. Since then I’ve replaced the headgasket, had the head machined, pressure tested, and valves re seated. Rebuilt the carb with a new rebuild kit and fitted a new timing belt. It runs fine but has a slight miss due to a split HT lead boot. It looks like she will go through an MOT with little, to no work required other than maybe replacing a couple of tyres. Will require a battery too Would anyone be interested in taking her on? To the best of my knowledge, this is the last surviving ‘electric blue’ mk1 phase 1 in the uk. I’d always planned on lowering her on some 8x15s and using her for going to shows with a couple of mates, and still having room to sleep in. I’m asking £1100 which is a little less than she owes me. Thanks

That's one fine motor.
Well worth the asking price.

Bloody brilliant!
My old man had one of these in the late 1980's (a Mk1 facelift) and I thought it was out of this world...
I am tempted...

GLWTS This is awesome, I personally think it will look great a bit lower, or even on air bags! But of course it will be up to the new owner! However, very clean and surprisingly straight for a project, alot of car for the money, GLWS Sorry, I'm not attacking you personally at all, but I don't understand Mercedes people sometimes.. do you guys meet up and get off on how original and stock your cars look? Leaving it stock isn't something that is earned or deserved. Sometimes it is possible to improve a vehicle tastefully and functionally after it has come out of the factory, there are many capable people on here who build all kinds of weird and wonderful cars. I agree it is possible to completely ruin a car through modifications but you Mercedes guys seem to circle us all into one big group. Look at this beautiful w123 coupe, yes lower than how it came out of factory but with the push of a button, it magically rises. That's much better than how it left the factory.. Mercedes never offered that option did they? And those wheels are much more mesmerising than the standard colour coded hubs/Mexican hats..What do you think? I'm just curious to know..

I agree, Not hard to modify a car while keeping all the original parts making it easy to reverse back to stock in the future either. I looked into these a while ago and thought one would look super slammed on some nice wheels.

I looked into these a while ago and thought one would look super slammed on some nice wheels. Yup. I totally agree. I'm a JDM guy but some of these older mercs are really beautiful...Funnily enough, I own one of these (280ce) in Cypress Green. I mentioned on a popular MB forum that I planned to lower it and put mesh alloys on etc and got attacked by middle/old aged men demanding I sell the car or keep it original etc. I actually considered selling after the response I got, felt like not wanting to be part of that community anymore. Tbf, some of the guys disagreed and said it's your car so do what you want with it.. I've decided to keep it as I'm in love with the car (and not the people who drive them lol). The plan is to bag it eventually! And all the 'purists' can look on and kiss my a s s. After said experience, I find it slightly insulting to see them wriggling onto a bloody Renault MPV (which is beautiful nonetheless) advert and 'suggesting' it 'deserves' to be left stock. Like wtf, the car ain't even alive mate and you ain't gonna take it to the grave with ya when you die, why are you so concerned?.. The next owner will almost definitely look after this motor in the condition its in, regardless of if he decides to modify it or keep it standard.

Seems a bit strong to come out with you "Mercedes people" quite a big brush you tarnish with there, and as for appreciating how wonderful it is to see a classic as it left the showroom not deserving as you say I don't see your point there? I think no matter how rare or desirable a car is it deserves to be looked after, maintained and driven whether it's an inch off the ground or not, that's what it deserves, but at the end of the day its up to the owner how low or standard they leave it, horses for courses some people think the Mona Lisa would look good with a tash.
Peace and GLWS for a rare bit of French.

Peace and GLWS for a rare bit of French. As I said, some of the guys on the MB forum sided with me and disagreed with the rest. I'm not suggesting they're all the same and I'm not attacking them for being 'purists', it's totally fine if they want to keep their car original. But why attack others for suggesting it or doing it to their own cars? I say Mercedes people through personal experience and what I've seen here today and ironically I'm a Mercedes person myself, I own one... Yeah, Mona Lisa would look brilliant with a tash, what a great idea hahah

Always loved these. Saw a Quadra (one of less than 5 left I believe in the UK or so?) in front of me in traffic the other day, nearly wet myself with excitement: With the stock/modify debate - do what you like - it's your car. Cars are made to suit the owner, not the masses. Stop bickering and let the chap sell it. GLWS.

And no tash on the Mona Lisa thanks she does not need "modding" haha
